Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Guided tour of Tewkesbury Abbey

It was a privilege to visit Tewkesbury Abbey, and enjoy a guided tour by the Chairman and Trustee John Jeffreys from Tewkesbury Abbey Foundation! 900 years of History! And one of the finest medieval church buildings in the country!

Did you know, Tewkesbury Abbey was bought for £483 by the people of Tewkesbury at the dissolution of its monastery in 1540 to serve as their parish Church?

We got to learn this, but so much more about physical and spiritual needs, worship, the monks, the Tewkesbury through the war, tombs of Princes, artwork, stories and memories of its people, peace, and so much more....

Flower arranging

Residents enjoyed getting involved in the flower arranging.

The home was filled with floral scents, colours, and pretty sights! The beautiful flower creations were then proudly displayed around the home for everyone to enjoy.

At Tewkesbury Fields, we are always looking for a variety of events and activities to offer to our residents. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind.

2 Valais blacknose and 4 pigmy goats

What a fantastic time with students from Bredon School and Lodge Valais & friends who kindly brought 2 valais blacknose and 4 pigmy goats for everyone to see!

Not to mention the cuteness, there was a lot of fun and laughter together.
While meeting the students, residents truly enjoyed sharing some stories of when they were younger; some had farms and talked about their work experiences.

There were so many cuddles too!
Thanks to all at Bredon School and Lodge Valais, for teaming up together and bringing so much joy to all residents and staff at Tewkesbury Fields!

Towel printing workshop

Residents have enjoyed another workshop at Bushley Village Hall. There was a a range of choices available; the residents chose tea towel printing.

After some practice on paper, residents got brave to create their design on their own tea towel; from a great choice of colours, to the Indian wooden printing blocks, the event was amazing.

Not forgetting to mention the delicious cakes and refreshments available! Thanks again for inviting us! Residents had an amazing time and were very proud of their fantastic work! Don't they look beautiful?

Cheers to 102 years!

Elena celebrated her 102nd milestone in style! Elena was joined by her family, staff members, relatives and residents! A special birthday cake made by our head chef went down well with a glass of Prossecco!

Thanks to Nick, from Mini Concerts who sang the most beautiful songs for the afternoon entertainment! To say, we've reached over 105 birthday cards, it's just an absolute incredible achievement! Elena was absolutely thrilled by the kindness of how many people kindly has written a card for her special day! Elena has said "Thank you all so much, it's very kind of you! I've never seen so many birthday cards! I still can't believe I'm 102 years old!"

Cheese and wine tasting

What a great time for cheese and wine tasting with residents from Marina Court!

There was white and red wine, or a choice of prosseco; as well as other refreshments, all going well with variety of cheese and biscuits prepared by our amazing Head chef. Vivienne, our resident ambassador, challenged the group with a quiz of 40 questions, divided in 4 different themes! And what a great variety! It was lovely welcoming you all to our home, and we look forward for more events together!
