Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

Life at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Elf Day Fun

It was a cold December day and the team pulled out all the stops to support the Alzheimer's Society. Residents enjoyed some fresh cake and a song or two and staff enjoyed dressing up for the occasion.

Tewkesbury Remembrance - Laying a Wreath to Honour Friends , Tewkesbury Fields Care Home Remembrance , Remembrance

Remembrance

Residents had the privilege of attending Tewkesbury Remembrance Parade.  Our Veteran Resident Richard wore his medals with pride and laid a Wreath at the War memorial cross, Tewkesbury. He was so pleased to be able to honour those who have given so much, and represent the Residents at the Home.
Residents and staff thanked all at Tewkesbury Town Council, Royal British Legion and all the Veterans for supporting us in making this very special and meaningful moment to happen for our residents.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

We've had a lovely morning taking part in the Macmillan Cancer Support World's Biggest Coffee Morning.

A lovely chance to get together for a chat and enjoy some delicious cakes with friends, family and staff.

Thank you to all those who supported us on this event, and to our Head chef Jane for baking many delicious cookies and cakes.

Richard's 91st birthday

We've celebrated Richard's birthday in style!

For his birthday, Richard made a wish of going on a cruise. At lunch time, we decided to surprise Richard with a captain's hat and with some other cruising accessories, including a pair of sunglasses!

Our chef has also made a special meal for Richard's special day to celebrate with everyone during lunch!

Big Happy 91st birthday!

Tewkesbury Abbey Tour

Another recent interesting outing to the local Tewkesbury Abbey, with the privilege of a guided tour. So much to learn and many interesting facts! Did you know that some of the original coloured paint, such as the red and blue, can still be seen in the Abbey?

Cultural experiences such as outings to museums, National Trust homes and historic landmarks are all part of our life enrichment programme.

PAT Dogs

Our regular Pets As Therapy dog Riggs, has only recently started visiting our home and spending time with each one of our residents, but has already brought many smiles around.

You can see the sheer joy on everyone's faces; there are always huge smiles, ohhh, and big cuddles too!

The joy of seeing all residents enjoying Riggs and Lucy's visit is just priceless.

Big thanks to our lovely volunteer Lucy, for visiting every two weeks, and spending time bringing smiles to everyone.
