Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

International Women's Day

Happy international women's day.

Today we celebrated the strength, resilience and achievements of women everywhere at Tewkesbury Fields, we're proud to honour and appreciate the invaluable contributions of our female residents and staff.

We were delighted to hand out flowers to residents and staff to celebrate International Women's day

We celebrated the day by surprising all ladies in the home with fresh roses and gerberas.

Scottish Country Dancing

We welcomed 15 members of Pershore Scottish Country Dance Society to do a demonstration of Scottish dance.

They are such a friendly and talented group of different generations that brought in so much energy during their dance. Our residents enjoyed the music, the dancing and we even learnt a few routines.

We look forward to their next visit and we may even have our own kilts!

Thank you for your visit and the lovely afternoon.…

Celebrating London Fashion Week

At the beginning of 'London Fashion week', we held our very own rainbow themed "Fashion Show"

So much fun and laughter went along on the red carpet and to include some fabulous dancing and glamour.

Residents and staff created such a fantastic event together by wearing the most colourful clothing, fancy hats and dancing along to the 50’s songs.

Well done to the 3 winners!

Tea with a Pony

Residents visited Cotswold RDA and enjoyed RDA Tea with a Pony.

We had the privilege to watch a riding lesson whilst enjoying a lovely cup of tea or coffee with a slice of cake, before meeting and stroking the ponies Bruno and Oreo.

Many memories were shared by our residents, from when they worked as a Horse Riding instructor, others when they visited the Racecourse during the Races week or going for a horse ride.

Such a meaningful activity for our residents.

We can't wait to return, thank you all the team for the hospitality, what better way to enjoy a cup of tea with a pony.

Those were the days

We’ve travelled all the way back to the 50s!

Speakers Virginia and David from Gloucestershire Local History Association, visited Tewkesbury Fields and presented the talk and demonstration called "Those were the days". They've got such a fabulous collection of reminisce items that it got every resident talking about stories and memories from their past.

Everyone reminisced about the Queen's coronation, baby's clothes, toys, teenagers clothing, school items, fashion, smoking, simple things such as a collar box, and so much more!

It was a very knowledgeable talk and a fantastic afternoon.
