Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. Keeping Safe Digitally

This week we welcomed Lauren Woods, Digital & Technology Navigator (Tewkesbury Borough) for a Keeping safe digitally talk.

A new initiative by Gloucestershire Rural Community Council, that supports digital inclusion, improving health and wellbeing, as well as building digital confidence use.

From learning how to use a smart phone, tablet or a computer, Lauren can also help with how to look out for scams, do's and don't 's, understand Technology and access digital services.

Lauren has booked one to one sessions with several residents who would like to learn new skills digitally and learn more about preventing scammers!

Pianist

Residents and staff welcomed back the very popular and fantastic pianist Rob. Residents at Tewkesbury Fields enjoy and appreciate a varied array of music. Which is always a pleasure for us to listen to different tempos!

We spent the morning singing along to the popular classics played by Rob and always thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and loved reminiscing to tunes from the past.

Many of our residents played musical instruments in previous years and it is always a pleasure to listen to them recalling their favourite instruments and pieces of music.

Weekly Craft Club

From knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery and paper/fabric crafts, this week we've had a good selection of crafts at Tewkesbury Fields.

Residents have also started some of their own projects which are looking amazing, we look forward to showing all the completed works.

Visit from John Moore Museum

Another very interesting afternoon learning more about the history around Tewkesbury with the fantastic team from The John Moore Museum, Tewkesbury.

During the visit, Heritage Manager Kirstie Bingham and her team delivered the "Natural themed" talk, where residents got to learn so much and had the opportunity to ask questions.

Afternoon with the community choir

We had a wonderful afternoon with Leadon Vale Community Choir. The residents loved listening and participating alongside the choir

Thank you so much for bringing such joy and fun to everyone, not just the singing but also the jokes and stories that you shared between each song. Everyone commented on how much they've enjoyed the visit!

Relaxing by the River

This afternoon we went on a short drive in our minibus to sit by the river at Eckington picnic park. It is so peaceful there and was nice to relax by the riverside, and take time to read a few pages of our favourite books. We are so fortunate to have such tranquil areas of nature local to us.
