Activities at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula Lourenco

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Paula and I’m the Activities coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields care home. I’ve joined Barchester healthcare in 2020.

As part of the lifestyle enrichment team, I will be organising daily activities, ensuring that residents have varied activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives, creating memories and be able to provide meaningful activities to each one of the residents living at Tewkesbury fields.

St. Patrick's Day Celebrations

St. Patrick's day was celebrated in style at Tewkesbury Fields!

As well as watching the Gold Cup day of Cheltenham Festival 2023 on television, residents also enjoyed a delicious menu prepared by our talented chef!

Themed decorations were all around the home, and a pint of Guinness enjoyed at Bredon Star RFC Ltd by one of our residents.

Pampered by Emma from CMB Style and Confidence

As requested by the ladies at Tewkesbury Fields Care Home, Emma from CMB Style Confidence, visited our home so they could have their colours done! Each resident had the opportunity to see which colours suit them best accordingly to their skin tone. And, afterwards, a little pampering session and makeup done too!

Furry Fun with Pets As Therapy

We had another wonderful morning today, when volunteers from the Gloucestershire branch of ‘Pets As Therapy’, came to visit with their dogs; Dudley, Dante, Briar and Riggs and spend time with our residents.

These very well behaved dogs only required a biscuit or two.......  and a cuddle from our residents, who were delighted to hear more about the dogs and the support Pet Therapy provides.  Thank you and we look forward to the next visit from our furry friends, Dudley, Dante, Briar and Riggs, and of course their owners, who gave up their time to bring the dogs to us.

Pets As Therapy (PAT), is a national charity who strive to ensure that everyone, no matter their circumstances, has access to the companionship of an animal.  For more information about this charity, please visit: Pets As Therapy

Glamour and style for Ladies day!

We celebrated Ladies day for Cheltenham Festival 2023 in style and glamour. Fascinators, fancy hats, smart dressing and so much more! Residents, staff and family members got invited to enter in the competition. There was prizes for the winners for both competitions, best fancy hat and Racing winners.

Head chef prepared a fantastic afternoon tea with fresh fruit including strawberries with cream, delicious and tasty scones, sandwiches and cupcakes all washed down with a glass of Prosecco as everyone’s hats got judged during the organised parade by the activities team.

Visiting Tewkesbury Arts Society

We visited Watson Hall Tewkesbury to find out more about the Tewkesbury Arts & Drama Society weekly meetings.

It was lovely to meet Betty Ellis and Marilyn Brand, who provided all the details if the residents would like to join the workshops or the regular meetings at the Watson Hall.

Paula, our Home services advisor had the opportunity to meet everyone, see each members piece of artwork and to talk about how different and creative they all look!Keep up the amazing and beautiful artwork!

Reminiscing time

On a cold and rainy day, we've kept in the warm and enjoyed looking through lots of newspapers and magazines.

After finding pictures that brought back many memories and meant something to each resident, they then decided to put them together and create an individual meaningful collage.
