Activities at Station Court Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator.  I joined the home in 2011.  I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

Life at Station Court Care Home

Garden Party with a Difference

All our staff dressed up for the event and we all enjoyed dancing and singing to music through the eras with ice lollies, fruit kebabs, smoothies, ice-cream floats and of course the sunshine too! Even though residents were socially distant from each other it put smiles on everyone’s faces at a much needed time!

Community Gifts

Colleagues at Station Court have been overwhelmed with the kindness shown across the home with community gifts for residents, and for themselves receiving colourful, handmade drawstring laundry bags to put their uniform straight into when they’ve finished their shift.

These drawstring laundry bags can be put in the washing machine without having to handle them, making them ideal for care workers and other key workers during this current pandemic.

A big thank you from all staff at Station Court to their sewing machinist for donating 64 laundry bags for every staff member.

Stay Home Scarecrow

Station Court created a scarecrow to commemorate the fallen as part of the home's 75th VE virtual celebrations. Stevie the solider scarecrow is displayed proudly sitting at the front of our home.

Scarecrows are appearing across the North East, showing support for key workers, and was part of an initiative set up on Facebook. Stay Home Scarecrows now have over 700 appearing across the region to show support for people who are working on the frontline, and Station Court is proud to be involved.

The scarecrows are sharing joy across the region, with local children taking selfies as they spot these wonderful creations on their daily exercise.

Station Court Supports Food Bank Collections

A big thank you to our staff doing a quick whip around for our local food bank at times like these it is essential communities come together and we help one another where we can. Wansbeck Valley Food Bank were very grateful and are delivering to those in need.

It was also pointed out that Ashington donate the most food to the service for surrounding areas, isn’t that wonderful!

Craft Club

The ladies from our craft club, loved making vintage teacup centrepieces. They will be ready for our Love & Friendship tea party on Valentine’s day.

Boxing Day Dip

Three members of staff braved the very cold north sea on boxing day to raise funds for the resident fund, thank you to all, who sponsored us.
