Activities at Station Court Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days, and at Station Court we ensure there are a variety of social events that reflect the individual interests and capabilities of people we support. All group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self worth. All of our team are committed to supporting a full activities programme within the home.

Carly Chesney

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Carly and I am the homes Activities Coordinator.  I joined the home in 2011.  I am passionate about our enhancing our residents daily life and delivering a person centred life enrichment activity programme is very important to me to ensure that our residents continue to lead fulfilling lives doing things that they want to and enjoy. Our programme is varied from excursions out on the mini bus ensuring our residents are connected to their local community, hosting events here in the home, virtual events and themed days – no day is the same!

Life at Station Court Care Home

A hoppy Easter at Station Court

Everyone had a jam packed day for Easter! We began our day with a eggcellent delivery from the Easter’ bunny’ of chocolate Easter eggs and handmade crosses made by the Holy Sepulchre Church knitting group, followed by a virtual church service, a delicious Easter roast, Easter crafts and drawing our bonnet competition. We then finished off with our eggstravaganza tea party!

Residents enter Easter cake competition

The ladies of Station Court love their baking club and have had a fabulous time working together to make and decorate their entry into Barchester’s annual Easter cake competition,  We think they have done an amazing job and after seeing their finished result, what better way to round the afternoon off but enjoying a slice on a glorious day in the homes garden. It was delicious!

Nutrition and Hydration Week

We had so much fun taking part in nutrition and hydration week this month. From Monday to Sunday we created super snacks, Smoothies, tasting sessions, fruit kebabs, shakes and finished off with Fundae Sundae. Residents thoroughly enjoyed making  their own creations throughout the week.

Comic Relief Day

Our home was filled with fun and laughter for comic relief, we had a jam packed day of games, sharing jokes, races and finished our day off with red nose day cakes and treats. All to raise money for a brilliant cause.

Residents receive 2nd vaccine

Staff at Barchester’s Station Court care home, in Ashington, were delighted to welcome Seaton Park Medical Group for all residents to receive the second covid19 vaccination which has lifted everyone’s spirits after what has been a very challenging year for everyone.

General Manager, Ray Robson said: “A huge thankyou to both our team at Station Court Care home and the team at Seaton Park Medical group. Both have been fantastic in rolling out the second phase of our vaccine programme quickly, efficiently and safely ensuring the most vulnerable are protected. We are delighted to be ready to invite families back for indoor visiting now whilst feeling safe to do so. All our staff members will soon receive their second vaccine which is a huge sigh of relief for all of us”

A taste of the Caribbean

Residents enjoyed a tasting session with exotic fruits such as dragon fruit, star fruit and cherimoyas to name a few from our new local fruit store. They then made delicious fruit kebabs, smoothies and sorbets. Although the cherimoyas looked pretty they were ranked the worst tasting and watermelon and strawberries came out on top.
