Activities at Springvale Court Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jess Bruford

Activities Coordinator

Hi, My name is Jess and I am Activities Coordinator here at Springvale Court. I am delighted to join the team, joining in December 2023 but I have found my feet with ease. I spend time getting to know all of our residents and this helps me to arrange meaningful activities based on individual likes and interests. I love spending time with our residents, be it chatting one to one, small reminiscing groups or large group activities.

I am looking forward to learning and growing with Barchester and I am always open to any ideas for new and different activities so please stop and chat with me.

Life at Springvale Court Care Home

Magic moments

We love magic moments at Springvale Court!  Resident, John and his wife Marlene shared a magic moment as they danced away to live vocalist, Dave Brewis in the corridor.

It was a fun-filled afternoon for everyone as popular entertainer, Dave Brewis performed a medley of hits that had everyone dancing and singing along too!   We were all ready for a cup of tea and slice of home-made cake afterwards and look forward to Dave’s next visit.

Spa morning

Residents at Springvale Court enjoyed an afternoon of pampering as they were given a hand and nail therapy session.   The team at the home were on hand to provide the hour long pamper session, with residents enjoying treats such as cakes and refreshments whilst being given manicures and hand treatments. There was even a cheeky glass of sherry or two!

The great outdoors

Our beautiful garden is a great environment for our residents and families to sit in, relax and enjoy a variety of amazing outdoor activities.

With the help of our residents and staff, we have decorated our grounds with colourful plants and pots, and created a designated seating area for the summer months.

In our outdoor space we happily welcome entertainers, community members, families and friends, and organise specially selected activities, sessions and games.

My name is not Wig

We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’. ‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!

Angela shared interesting facts with our residents about her book, her life and her experiences as a wig creator in London’s West End in celebration of World Theatre Day.  All in all the afternoon was an absolute triumph!

Red Nose Day

To support Red Nose Day campaign and their mission to end child poverty, we got involved in a fun-filled fundraising activities.

Through the power of entertainment and laughter, we raised awareness and life-changing funds for the children that need support the most.

Our residents enjoyed putting on red noses, watching a compilation of funny sketches and baking delicious treats in support of the lovely charity

Pancake Day

The first day of March was busy as we marked not only St David’s Fay but also Pancake Day. Pancake Day or Shove Tuesday is the traditional feast day before the Lent on Ash Wednesday.

Our residents had a wonderful day, filled with pancake-inspired activities, they prepared homemade pancakes and decorated them with fresh fruit, berries, syrup and chocolate.

We watched some hilarious pancake races and some of our residents took part in our very own pancake flipping competition.
