Activities at Southerndown Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Southerndown Care Home

Letters from the Community

Every morning we receive kind letters, pictures, postcards or presents from lots of wonderful people from our local community.

Residents really enjoy spending time in the mornings reading and replying to their “fan mail” it really is amazing to have so many people write to us and share with us what they have been doing and ways they have been keeping busy.

Also we would like to say a thank you to the children at Great Tew Primary School, who made us some amazing card and sent us lots of beautiful bunches of daffodils.

Everything Will Be Fine Rainbow

Residents and staff at Southerndown have been keeping busy with arts and crafts and making an everything will be fine rainbow. This was a fun activity- everybody helped weather it was cutting out the hearts or placing the rainbow on the window.

We are very pleased with the finished result, and it can be seen from the road and we are hoping that  it will make people smile as they drive by.

Flower Arranging

Here at Southerndown we are very lucky to be donated bunches and bunches of flowers twice a week from our local Marks and Spencer’s.

We really look forward to the flower delivery. Our residents then arrange some very beautiful flower displays for the dining room tables and all around the home.

Creative Art Class

Southerndown have be letting their creativity flow, this month we have been using oil pastels and creating some wonderful pieces of Aft.

In our latest class we have been concentrating on spring flowers after inspiration from the daffodils that we have seen when we go for walks around the grounds.

Colour Therapy

Residents have been enjoying our colour therapy sessions. We have all found it so relaxing and we are really pleased with the finished results!

Oomph Party

Residents and staff have been getting involved in our new Oomph parties! We have so much fun dancing to the music, and the residents love shaking their pom poms!
