Activities at Sherwood Court Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Sherwood Court Care Home

Residents enjoy making toffee apples

Toffee apples are a great treat in autumn, whether it's for Halloween or Bonfire night, everyone loves them so Residents at Sherwood Court decided they wanted a sweet treat for their Halloween celebrations and decided to get into the sprit by trying something different. They had a go at making our own toffee apples to enjoy and they were delicious!

Residents get into spirit of Halloween

Residents of Sherwood Court have enjoyed getting into the Halloween sprit by helping to carve pumpkins and to show their creative sides in designing their faces.  For children of the community Halloween is a little different this year due to the ongoing pandemic and many communities have set up a pumpkin trail for the children to follow instead of trick-or-treat.  We have ours firmly displayed in our windows for all to see!

Home hosts Macmillan fundraising event

Residents and staff at Sherwood Court didn’t let the covid19 slow them down as the joined the World’s Biggest Coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan.  Due to the current pandemic they kept it in house and the homes activity coordinator, James came in early each morning to sell delicious cakes and hot drinks to the team.  The home made a fabulous £84.00 and staff enjoyed coming into work and going home with a with hot drink. The cake was kindly donated to us from a member of the community.  Sherwood Court would like to thank everyone who supported them.

Paying our respect

Over the bank holiday weekend there was news that a WW2 spitfire would be flying over all the NHS hospitals in the Lancashire region. Residents of Sherwood Court took this time to learn and share stories about the history of the plane.

As the home is not far from the hospital we decided to go out to the front of the building and pay our respects to the NHS and praise them for all of their hard work that they are doing at the present time also what they have done in the past for us and our residents.

Playing cards

Residents enjoyed an afternoon playing cards and teaching one another new games and learning new skills. They also enjoyed playing cards with staff.

Gentle exercising

Residents at Sherwood Court enjoy a varied life enrichment programme to keep the mind, body and soul active. Each day there are popular group activities bringing everyone together along with individual Resident centred activities.

Residents enjoys a fun filled morning of exercising with ball games and a virtual easy Arm chair exercise. Doing various stretches to help joints and muscles
