Activities at Shelburne Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

1940s Day

As part of our 1940s theme, the Mayor joined us for our celebrations as residents reminisced about war-time life and enjoyed entertainment from the amazing Fiona Harrison. Rsidents enjoyed a war-time menu of bubble & squeak and corn beef fritas’ – and ration books were issued!!

All funds raised through the raffle, cake sale and tombola will be donated to the SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association).

A fantastic day was enjoyed by the residents, families and local the community!

Woburn Safari Park

We were thrilled to be able to give the residents an opportunity to visit Woburn Safari Park! The Jumbulance arrived early and everyone was up and excited and keen to get on the road. The view from the window was perfect, enabling everyone to have a great view of all the animals. The warm weather gave everyone the opportunity to enjoy lunch outside whilst admiring the penguins.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

In celebration of the Worlds’ Biggest Coffee Morning, we were delighted to host a cake sale at Shelburne. Through the kind donations from residents’ families, friends and staff members, we were able to raise £60 for the Macmillan Cancer Support.  Lots of fun was had by all the residents, who particularly enjoyed sampling the cakes and playing games!

Canine Carnival

We were thrilled to recently present a cheque for £200 to the Hearing Dog for Deaf People charity  The money was raised at our last open day and it was lovely for the residents to meet and enjoy these wonderful animals again.

Farm Day

On Saturday we were thrilled to host Mill Cottage Farm and their wonderful animals. The residents enjoyed interacting with donkeys, sheep, pigs, chickens and goats. The goats turned out to be most helpful in trimming some of bushes! We were also able to fund raise for our nominated charity, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community. This year, Shelburne Lodge hosted the Royal British Legion, who provided a presentation showing all the fantastic work the organisation does. The residents were also entertained by Fiona Harrison and enjoyed singing along to many of the old classic hits. In a final tribute, the residents made their own medals and these were displayed on the activities tree.
