Meet our Activities Coordinator, Ludmila Guseva & Jemma Jepson

Ludmila has been working at Shelburne Lodge for many years and has really enjoyed her time in the home. Her responsibilities include interacting with residents and organising a varied programme of activities to help enhance their well-being. She encourages residents and their loved ones to participate in all activities, hoping that they will find new hobbies and interests.

Jemma has also worked at Shelburne Lodge for many years. She accepted the role of Activities Coordinator in 2018, and it gives her great pleasure knowing that her that she spends with residents benefits their quality of life.

Activities at our home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Farm Day

On Saturday we were thrilled to host Mill Cottage Farm and their wonderful animals. The residents enjoyed interacting with donkeys, sheep, pigs, chickens and goats. The goats turned out to be most helpful in trimming some of bushes! We were also able to fund raise for our nominated charity, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community. This year, Shelburne Lodge hosted the Royal British Legion, who provided a presentation showing all the fantastic work the organisation does. The residents were also entertained by Fiona Harrison and enjoyed singing along to many of the old classic hits. In a final tribute, the residents made their own medals and these were displayed on the activities tree.

Best Friend Day

In celebration of Best Friend Day, the residents at Shelburne Lodge have been busy reminiscing about friends, past and present. In tribute to this special day, hearts were created and residents given the opportunity to remember a particular attribute of that person. They enjoyed placing these on our friendship tree and sharing these with staff, families and, of course, friends!
