Activities at Shelburne Lodge Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Shelburne Lodge Care Home
A Heartfelt Christmas at Highcrest
This holiday season, Geanette, one of our residents, made a special return yesterday to Highcrest school—a place that holds years of joyful memories shared with her late husband.
Together, they celebrated Christmas here, creating a tapestry of love and laughter that still warms her heart today. Though her husband had passed, Geanette's wish was to revisit those cherished moments and keep his spirit alive in her heart. As she walked through the familiar halls, she could almost hear their laughter echoing and see the joy in his eyes. Each ornament and decoration reminded her of the special times they spent together, and she felt a sense of comfort in knowing that those memories would forever be a part of her.
This year, Geanette celebrates not just the holiday season, but the enduring love they shared—a love that transcends time and space. She encourages everyone to hold tight to their memories, for they are the threads that weave our stories together. Here’s to love, remembrance, and the magic of the holiday season! May we all find joy in our cherished memories and keep our loved ones close to our hearts!
Mischievous Elf
Our Mischief Elf is spreading holiday cheer this week in support of Alzheimer’s! From delicious cupcakes to fun photos with the elves, there's plenty of festive fun to be had while raising funds for this important charity! Here's a sneak peek at the mischief they've been up to:
- Sorting laundry with Rachel and falling over (oops, those nicely folded towels are a bit unruly now! )
- Answering phones as the Shelburne Elf with our admin team
- Sorting accounts with Avi and Tracey
- Helping Anthony with some mopping magic
- Assisting Chef Paula in the kitchen
- Getting in residents' way while they want to read the newspaper
- Trying to steal residents' freshly baked biscuits
- Getting in the way of our maintenance team while they are trying to get decorations done
Join us in the fun and support a great cause!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
We would like to give a massive thank you to the local schools who came to visit this weekend to sing carols to our residents, which brought a lot of smiles and joy.
We all had a fantastic day with a lot of giggles and happiness!
Romanian National Day
Today, our care home was filled with the vibrant colours of the Romanian flag—blue, yellow, and red—as we celebrated Romanian National Day in style!
Residents and their families enjoyed a delightful array of traditional Romanian dishes from the famous "Sarmale" to "cozonac" and many more treats.
Our residents and families had the opportunity to taste them all which brought a taste of culture and community to our home. Thank you to everyone who joined us in this wonderful celebration! Here’s to cherishing our diverse heritage and creating beautiful memories together
