Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd

Activities Co-ordinator

Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

January's Mystery trip!

Today we took our first minibus trip of 2025 and we decided to kick off the year in style with our Monthly Mystery Trip! Once a month we plan a special trip to a mystery location and today’s surprise destination was the lovely New Forest Heritage Centre, Lyndhurst. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable time exploring the museum (with the highlight being a beautiful embroidered tapestry depicting the history of the New Forest) before enjoying a cappuccino in the cafe.  A big thank you to the lovely staff at the centre for being so friendly & welcoming, we had a great time!

Happy New Year

Saying Goodbye to 2024!From all of us here we would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year! We can’t wait to see what 2025 will bring.

Winter walk at Keydell

We were Feeling Festive Last week when we got into the festive spirit with a trip to visit Keydell Nurseries Winter Walk-through.We all absolutely loved seeing all the incredible Christmas displays and it was a special treat getting to see some reindeer too!

Christmas Drinks

We recently visited one of our favourite pubs, The Flower Pots Inn & Brewery for a round of Christmas drinks. Sometime you just need that refreshing taste of a beer or a crisp white wine. We settled in to the pub and enjoyed the atmosphere. We’d like to thank the staff for being so welcoming as always.

Back to School!

This week we were invited to Locks Heath Infant School to watch the children perform their fantastic Christmas show ‘Born in a Barn.’
It was our second visit to the school, in November we helped the children with a special project about toys.
We’ve absolutely loved both our trips to Locks Heath and are looking forward to being able to continue growing our relationship with the school next year.
