Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd

Activities Co-ordinator

Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.

Out and about - The Royal Logistics Museum

This week we took another trip to The Royal Logistic Corps Museum in Worthy Down.

This was a special trip for Tony, who has visited many of Winchester’s military museums, but had never had the opportunity to visit the Royal Logistic Corp’s museum before. He thoroughly enjoyed the trip & was especially impressed by the medal room, which has a vast array of medals on display.

After having a look around the exhibits we all enjoyed a round of drinks in the on site café. Thank you to all the staff at the museum for welcoming us

Classic Car Show - Allsorts Motorclub - Alsford

What a beautiful sunny day it was for our classic Car show courtesy of All sorts Motor Club inc. who joined us on Saturday morning with 11 of their club members and their classic vehicles

The residents and their friends and families loved reminiscing with the club members and hearing about the stories of how they came to own their classic vehicles

There was a wonderful and diverse collection, the oldest car was nearly 100 years old and the most modern was a Subaru Rally Car.

Vernon was very lucky as he managed to sit in the drivers seats of most of the cars and also take a look under their bonnets

We’d like to thank them all for giving up their time to join us, we had a lovely time
