Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Gadd

Activities Co-ordinator

Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.

Memory Well-Being Centre St John's Winchester Community launch

We were very pleased to welcome St John's Winchester this week for the launch of their Memory Well-Being centre at our home

Taking place every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month between 10am-12:30pm, the Memory Well-Being Centre is designed to be a welcoming and supportive group that provides information and advice to people affected by dementia.

The Well-Being centre will allow individuals with dementia to gather, take part in different activities, talk to other members, and receive personalised support from the St John's Winchester team.

Exploring our community

Some of our gents got together this week for a trip to one of our locals, the Bridge Shawford for a round of drinks. It’s a lovely pub and the beer was a big hit with everyone. Thank you to the staff for being so accommodating, we hope to be back again soon.

Oh, no we didn’t…. Oh yes we did!

This week we had an absolutely fantastic time watching Otterbourne Theatre Company’s pantomime at the village hall. They put on a wonderful performance of the Little Mermaid which had us all laughing along and we thought the costumes & dancing were excellent too!

A big well done to all involved & thank you for the special shout out at the end
