Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Easter Tea Party

On Easter Monday we had our Tea party where we had a raffle, Bonnet competition and entertainment. We started our afternoon with drawing the raffle which was a great success making a total £110 for the residents fund, we then enjoyed a delicious simnel cake and hot cross buns with tea whilst listening to Maddison Douch sing some great hits. Half way through the afternoon we stopped so Maddison could judge the bonnets and we had first second and third prizes to present.  First prize went to Barbara Symmonds, second prize to Violet Clark and third went to Helen Pickard. We then danced the rest of the afternoon away with Maddison singing. It was a fantastic afternoon had by all.

Easter Bonnet making

Good Friday we had a great afternoon where all residents who wanted too, created their own Easter bonnet for the competition taking place on Easter Monday. We all had lots to choose from to create our bonnets from feathers to yellow chicks; of course we had to stop for a good old cuppa half way through.

Scrabble Marathon

Scrabble Marathon

Scrabble marathon took place from11am to 5pm. Residents and staff came and went throughout the day to add to the words or help the residents that stayed. We got through three whole games through this time, using up all tiles on each game. One resident was quoted saying “it was hard going but we got there if it was not for lunch we would have got another game or two in”.

Cosmic Sparkle entertain us once again
