Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

We held an aftrenoon tea party for Mother's day, we welcomed a local singer Vicki Parkinson to come and sing. We had cream teas and plenty of tea flowing for the ladies and gents who attended.

Flower Arranging

Flower Arranging

One of our afternoon activities recently was flower arranging, where the residents had a choice of arranging their flowers in various different pots. Once they had chosen what pot they wanted to start with there was array of flowers to use all colours, shapes and sizes.

World poetry day

World poetry day

We celebrated world poetry day by having a music and poetry afternoon with our music therapist Siska Redman. We started the afternoon with wetting our whistles with teas and coffees before we read our favourite poem's. Some poems were funny and some were from heart written by residents. Everyone had a lovely afternoon and agreed to do it again in a few months.

St Patricks Day

We had a fantastic morning with some resident’s decorating their own shamrocks we had lots of laughter amongst residents and relatives. In the afternoon of St Patrick’s day we had an afternoon tea with themed cakes and Guinness for all to try, we had a Irish quiz for the residents to tackle and the Irish coffee was flowing.

Nutriton Week

During nutriton we had some activities where we were focusing around food and drink, we started the week of with taking some residents to the pub for lunch, where they enjoyed choosing what they fancied off the menu and having a drink they wouldn't usually have on a daily basis. At mid week we got all the fruit out and made fruit smoothies where the resident's got to choose what they wanted in theirs and they all said they were tasty. At the end of the week it was baking club so we made some yummy chocolate swirls where all the residents involved could take part in making and tasting and they were delicious.
