Activities at Ross Court Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Advice on Matters of the Heart

Happy Valentine’s Day from Ross Court. Residents dressed the tables and windows up for this special day and our chef did a lovely selection of pink frosted cakes.  We then had advice on matters of the heart from some of our lovely residents, along with a game of valentine bingo, finishing the day with love themed music.

RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch

As part of the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch residents have been making our birds some delicious treats! It was rather messy but also great fun making feeders for our local visitors to enjoy. We placed the feeders all around the gardens and it has been really enjoyable to watch birds big and small come and enjoy the food, they are now expecting regular top ups!

Calculating the Age of the Tree

Ross Court is a beautiful building and when you approach you cannot fail to see the striking tree. We decided to try and work out the age of the tree which was actually great fun and our calculation was 267 years old. As we plan to plant a tree to comemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this year we wonder if it will still be here in 267 years!

Busy Friday!

It was another busy Friday at Ross Court, the residents enjoyed yoga with Poppy in the morning, then mocktails and cocktails in the afternoon. All this along with flower arranging and a lovely sing along to War time songs.

The Year of the Tiger

Happy Chinese New Year, those born in the year of the tiger are brave, competitive, unpredictable and confident.  We do have some Tiger residents born in 1926.  We talked about the meaning of each animal in the Chinese Zodiac, whilst doing some mindful colouring to make Chinese laterns.  The colours and detail looked stunning as we hung these to catch the light in the windows.

A Very Special Visitor

The residents had a very special visitor today, Ben the Jack Russell Terrier puppy and they all had lots of cuddles,  Thank you so much to Helena and Anca for giving your time to bring the residents so many smiles, they have kindly offered to visit again soon.  After all the excitement we had a wonderful time watching the BBC Big Musicals with a cuppa.
