Activities at Oxford Beaumont Care Community

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a mix of activities and events that cater to all tastes, which includes minibus outings to nearby places of interest and visits from animal trusts, local school choirs, musicians and entertainers. We also undertake one-to-one activities for residents who are unable to participate in group sessions, and encourage loved ones to join in whenever they can.

Meet the Hairdresser

Everyone was so excited at the first visit from our new hairdresser at Oxford Beaumont. Graham was keen to have a before and after photograph taken, and the ladies were glowing with pleasure after their first haircut for such a long time. Lynette will be returning to us on a regular basis and we look forward to seeing some more transformations next time.

Cocktails & Canapés

In 2020, Oxford Beaumont won a prize of £500 towards a party in a competition organised by NAPA and CareShield, and we have finally had the first part of our party prizes.

For our 1920s cocktails and canapes party, residents were treated to another wonderful performance by Fiona Harrison at the weekend. She sung a selection of songs from the 1920s and '30s while residents enjoyed food and drinks. They had really enjoyed preparing the decorations and the food and said it was a great afternoon.

Bespoke Activities

Activities at Oxford Beaumont cater for individuals, small and larger groups and depend on what the interests of residents are. As a result, we often have more than one activity available at any one time.

Recently, before the weather got too hot, we took two residents to Cuttislowe Park with some oats to feed the ducks and swans, while another group enjoyed a quiz and reminiscence session based on folklore, legends and tales. They then asked for more so we moved on to fruit and veg questions and geography.

Memories of gardening, cooking, schooldays and travelling were shared and they all said how much they had enjoyed the activity.

Garden Centre Visit

Residents were really pleased to visit Notcutts Garden Centre to choose some bedding plants for a remodelling of one of our Memory Lane gardens. They loved being able to walk around and then have a cup of tea in the café. We have had a few suggestions of places to visit now things are opening up a little and garden centres are always high on everyone’s list because they bring back so many memories of spending time gardening.

A Voice in a Million

We were so lucky that the weather held, as residents were able to come outside in the fresh air to watch and listen to the lovely Fiona Harrison - A Voice in a Million.

She performed songs from the '50s and '60s to tie in with World Beatles Day. We also had themed activity packs available for residents and did our regular exercise session to some music from the Fab 4.

It was a wonderful day and residents said how much they had enjoyed it. Care staff joined in dancing with some of the residents and we can't wait to have Fiona back here for a party in August!

Opera Anywhere

Everyone at Oxford Beaumont was so excited to welcome back live entertainers after what seemed like such a long time.

We were honoured yesterday to be treated to a fantastic afternoon of music by Opera Anywhere. The event was organised by Shirley, one of the residents in the assisted living bungalows here, to celebrate her husband Frank's 90th birthday.

The set included light opera and musical theatre numbers, as well as some great old sing along songs.

Everyone had a great time and the timing was perfect, as the rain didn't start until the performers were packing up to go home.

Thank you to everyone who made it possible.
