Activities at Orchard House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Reading the Paper

On Friday 9th March, residents enjoyed reading out of the Isle of Wight County Press to find out about what's happening on the island. Our volunteer, Joe, also stopped by to enjoy some time with the residents.

,

Staying Fit

On the 8th March, we had Suki back for her fun 'Keep Fit' class in the afternoon, which took place in the Valentine dining room. Suki gets the residents motivated to improve their physical well-being, in addition to stimulating social communication within the group.

,

Getting Creative

On the 7th March, we enjoyed a morning of making pom-poms together in the Bluebell dining room whilst having a chinwag and enjoying a cuppa. Everyone who came along said they had a lot of fun. Some residents joined us to just watch others and have a good chat with everyone. We will continue making and completing unfinished pom-poms and residents said they are looking forward to doing it again.

Snow Day

Looking out the window at Orchard House was a sight to behold recently!

,

Live Music

On 27th February, we enjoyed an afternoon watching live music from Bob, one of Orchard House's volunteers, who comes in every few months to perform for residents. Everyone appeared to have fun and most sang along with Bob whilst dancing in their chairs.

National Real Bread Week

On the 27th February, we had a lovely morning making bread rolls and enjoying a good chit chat. Once we had finished, it was nearly lunch, so residents enjoyed their freshly-baked bread with some soup. Residents said they really enjoyed them and are looking forward to making more bread rolls.

We also enjoyed a day of making ice buns and fruit buns. Several visitors told us how lovely it smelt on Memory Lane, which is where the baking took place.
