Activities at Orchard House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

The Magic Table

On the 15th March, Tovertafel came to visit us at Orchard House to show us a demonstration of their Magic Table, which is for use by people living with mid-to-late stage dementia, helping them to be more physically and socially active. The residents appeared to really enjoy themselves and it was a fun and refreshing afternoon.

Quarr Abbey

On the 14th March, we took a lovely trip out in the minibus to Quarr Abbey, which the residents had been looking forward too, as some had never been, but always wanted to go. Once we arrived, we took a walk around Quarr Abbey and then popped into their café, where we all enjoyed a warm cuppa and slice of cake.

Audrey came in to visit residents with Chelsea, our PAT dog, who loves being fussed over.

Musical Entertainment

Musical Entertainment

On the 13th March, we enjoyed a lovely afternoon of live entertainment from Ricky, who comes in every month to sing and play his guitar for everyone.

Getting to Know Me

Getting to Know Me

On Monday 12th March, residents enjoyed an afternoon playing Barchester’s 'Getting to Know Me' with Lifestyle Assistant, Sarah, and Ellyn, our volunteer. The aim of the game is to understand and recognise each individual’s life story. During the game, lots of laughter was shared and everyone left with big smiles on their faces.

Eyes Down!

On Friday 9th March, we enjoyed the afternoon playing bingo. Residents always look forward to trying to win the top prizes.

Joe, our volunteer, joined in as well and supported the residents. Everyone who came appeared to have fun and, at the end of the game, we enjoyed a cuppa whilst chatting as a group.
