Activities at Oaklands Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oaklands Care Home

Glorious Sunshine

Staff and residents have been making the most of the glorious weather we have had before it changes. Ivy thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the flowers and even spotting a dragonfly down by the pond.

Water Painting

Residents achieved a beautiful colour picture by painting with water. They enjoyed seeing the magic happen. They also provoke conversation. This was a lovely afternoon activity!

Cookbook Memories

Residents are thoroughly enjoying an ongoing project making their own cookery club memory scrapbooks.

Residents meet weekly to talk about foods they used to enjoy, their favourite meals or sweet treats. They then document them in the scrap book and then the real fun starts when they start making them for everyone to try, and then we will evaluate the foods.

Fundraising Fun

A local girl, Molly, age 8, and two of her friends who attend Swaffham Prior Primary, decided to raise some money for the care home to enjoy an ice cream treat. The girls would normally attend the care home every Wednesday to read with residents and other social events and have developed some very strong bonds with them.

The girls have been attending school and have made perfume to sell and been doing lucky dips for the other children and staff.

Ceramic Painting

Residents enjoyed an afternoon of ceramic painting. They got to choose what they wanted to paint; a popular one was the ornamental cat, which sparked lots of conversations about pets we have had and pets we would have liked to have.

Enjoying the Gardens in the Sunshine

With all this beautiful weather we have been blessed with recently, our residents decided to take some time out to sit in the gardens, relax and listen to the birds. Our garden's water feature also made for a very relaxing background noise. Our gardener has been very busy keeping the grounds looking brilliant and it is so wonderful that our residents are able to get out and enjoy them.
