Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Residents mark Remembrance Day with English Ballet

We celebrated Remembrance Day with English National Ballet Associate Dance Artist, Richard Bermange, who led a creative dance workshop for our residents followed by a short clip of Akram Khan’s work Dust, premiered in 2014 as part of ENB’s Lest We Forget programme, commemorating the First World War.

An ENB Company Dancer, recalled their account of performing in the piece and provided context to the themes. To bring this element to a close, some of the specific hand movements from the duet were demonstrated by Jennie Harrington - Artistic Coordinator.

Our residents had a wonderful time as they listened, danced and were able to singalong to famous war time music performed by ENB Associate Musician, Matt Hartley-Stevens.

The session incorporated the national two minute’s silence at 11am to mark the exact time the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War in 1918.

A visit from Aquatic Finatic

Residents and staff enjoyed another visit from Jack at Aquatic Finatic this week.

What an amazing day we have had here once again at Mount vale.

Jack brought in a selection of exotic animals and reptiles that our Residents and staff were able to meet and hold. Jack is very knowledgeable about all the the animals he brings, our Residents found it very interesting and informative.

Aquatic Finatic visits Mount Vale once a month running alongside our in house activities schedule and our residents and staff always have a great time!

Spooktacular times at Mount Vale

Here at Mount Vale we got into the spooky Halloween spirit of things and hosted a fun-filled party this weekend with delicious Halloween inspired treats, mocktails and themed music.

Some of our residents preferred to paint and decorate pumpkins and to dress up for the occasion, others got involved in themed quizzes and games, and enjoyed watching Halloween films.

We all had a spooktacular time.

Halloween Spirit at Mount Vale

We had a lovely surprise visit from Bambi this week who came to the home in a little pumpkin outfit and it's safe to say she made everyone smile!

Bambi belongs to our Activities Coordinator, Rebecca and comes to work several times a week with her and has been doing so for the past 4 years. She is part of the furniture at Mount vale.

We also had a visit from another furry friend called Jasmine who belongs to one of our carers, Denise; but we're not sure how happy Bambi was about this.

Halloween spirit is all around at Mount Vale and we can't wait for our Party this weekend!

Monthly Church Service at Mount Vale

Residents at Mount vale enjoyed their monthly church service from the Methodist Church and the Church of England this week.

Residents joined together and thoroughly enjoy singing hymns and saying a prayer. It's great to be able to welcome back the local Churches to connect with our residents and provide great services for them again.
