Activities at Melbourn Springs Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat will always be welcomed.

Stevenage Roadtrip

We had another one of our regular roadtrips in the minibus which, this time, took us to have some retail therapy (and the obligatory coffee and cake) in Stevenage.  The residents enjoyed having a look around the shops and certainly showed that they have an eye for a bargain!!  Regular outings are just one aspect of our life enrichment program and all the trips we take are at the request of the residents. Our monthly activities calendar boasts a range of outings and entertainment.

Happy Birthday Veronica

We had a very special occasion yesterday and we wished a very Happy 90th Birthday to our Veronica. There was a specially baked cake from our Chef along with lots of singing and well wishes for the Birthday Girl.  Here at Melbourn Springs we celebrate birthdays not just as a mark of ageing another year but as a celebration of life, achievements, and personal growth. It's a time for reflection, gratitude, and looking forward to future possibilities. Birthdays provide a special opportunity for us to help residents to gather with loved ones and create lasting memories.  Happy Birthday Veronica!!

Pamper Day at Melbourn Springs

Yesterday was pamper day at Melbourn Springs as we set up the salon and offered the residents a manicure courtesy of our very own Geanina.

It was lovely to see how much the residents enjoyed a little bit of additional TLC and they were very appreciative.

Beauty therapy is one of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program and features regularly on our resident-led weekly activity planner.

Cinema Club

We have recently has a number of our residents ask us if they can watch more movies so this morning some of our female residents were treated to 'Cinema Club' in the Cinema Lounge. The film that they watched was 'Girls Trip' and there was a lot of laughing and crying throughout the film. We had a little mid-film break where ice cream and choc ices were served.
Next time it will be the Gents that get to choose what film they would like to watch.
At Melbourn Springs we know that being able to continue lifelong hobbies or interests is a key part of our resident's identities, and we make every effort to encourage and support each resident to be able to do so.

A week in the life of Melbourn Springs

It was another busy week at Melbourn Springs with lots going on both in the home and also out in the community. Particular highlights included the Cream Tea afternoon which saw the residents enjoying afternoon tea with a treat of scones with jam and fresh cream. We also had a lovey morning with our friends from the Royston Rotary Club at their Dementia coffee morning where there were lots of treats and also a fun game of bingo.

Busy times at Melbourn Springs

The last few days have been as busy as ever at Melbourn Springs.

The residents have been thoroughly entertained by the excellent Dave Parry, along with his wife Sue. There was a great blend of classic songs along with a few newer hits and the residents loved it.

We also had a little off-site activity when we took the residents to The Hub - Melbourn for an afternoon of snacks and drinks. The residents love having the opportunity to visit the hub and their staff are always so welcoming. We will certainly be back.
