Activities at Melbourn Springs Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat will always be welcomed.

Christmas Fayre 2024

Nothing says Christmas more than a Christmas Fayre and what a joyous occasion ours was!
We are so fortunate to have the support of our local community, the families of our residents, our dedicated stallholders, and the one and only Royston Radio who provided the festive sounds. We were also very happy to be joined by Mayor of Royston and his little 4-legged friend.
The afternoon was topped off when we received a special visit from Father Christmas himself. He brought lots of festive cheers and was kind enough to put his busy schedule to the side in order to call out all of the raffle numbers!!
A truly memorable afternoon had by all.

A taste of India

We had a little taste of India at Melbourn Springs with the residents and staff enjoying a special themed day.
There was lots of coloured clothing throughout the home and we had curry & onion bhajis carefully made by our chef Sean.
The day ended with another excellent and informative presentation on India from Ray Marsden.

The Magic of Music

Yesterday we were treated to a musical afternoon thanks to the brilliant Graham and John.
There was a mixture of all time classics, recent songs and, of course, festive songs aplenty for the residents to sing along to.
The methods and mediums may change but the heart of live music - the communal joy, the shared emotions, the collective energy - remains untouched. As we look to the future, one thing is clear: live music will continue to be a cherished experience at Melbourn Springs.

Creature Comforts

After the creepy crawly visitors last month, we had the cuter, fluffier animals at Melbourn Springs courtesy of Michelle's Animal Therapy & Petting Party.
It is always a very popular event at the home and all of the residents were excited to see the animals. There was lots of petting and cuddles going on and the animals left the home feeling very loved and very spoilt.
Animal therapy is one of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program and features regularly on our resident-led weekly activity planner.

Pudding Club returns to Melbourn Springs

We had a very special afternoon yesterday at Melbourn Springs as we hosted our latest Pudding Club. Sean, our Chef and his team created some amazing cakes based on recipes from our residents. We were joined by our friends at Hilton Park Care Home and also the Mayor of Royston as well as the amazing Sally who entertained the residents with the soothing sounds of her Clarinet.
Judging by the empty plates at the end, the afternoon was an incredible success for all involved. Hosting events for friends and family members to join us is an essential part of our activities program and we are always looking for new ideas to bring the wider community into our home.

Happy Birthday Audrey

We had an amazing day yesterday at Melbourn Springs as we celebrated our very own Audrey's Birthday.

Chef prepared a very special Birthday cake and we all sang Happy Birthday to Audrey. We also had the brilliant Trevor Bugie at the home for a good old fashioned sing-song.

We hope that you had an excellent Birthday, Audrey!!
