Activities at Melbourn Springs Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat will always be welcomed.

Brian's treat for the residents

We are feeling very blessed at Melbourn Springs as we were treated to a very special afternoon of music from the very talented Brian Farley.
Brian is a well travelled musician and has also had the pleasure of performing alongside Dame Vera Lynn.
The residents were captivated throughout and we genuinely hope to have Brian back at Melbourn Springs in the very hear future.

Getting the pulse racing

We have had a very busy start to the New Year and the residents kept that going with an energetic seated exercise session. The physical and psychological benefits of exercise are very well known and sessions like these are always very well received from our amazing residents.

Dave brings us the music

We started the 2025 activities programme with one of our favourites........an afternoon of singing with the one and only Dave Parry. Dave is a regular at Melbourn Springs and our residents simply adore home.
Once again he entertained us with his foot-tapping rendition of our residents' favourite songs. This was a great way to start the year and we very much look forward to seeing Dave at Melbourn Springs throughout the year.

Ending the year in style

We have been celebrating the last week of 2024 in the usual Melbourn Springs style with lots of activities taking place in the home. We have had the resident Christmas Parties, where we were very happy to be joined by Mayor of Royston and his wife, Sheila. This was followed by another fine performance by friend of Melbourn Springs, Les, who treated the residents to a mixture of old-time classics along with the festive favourites.
2024 has been a memorable year for everybody involved at Melbourn Springs and we very much look forward to welcoming in 2025!!

Christmas Dinner at The Pheasant

We were very grateful to receive an invite to attend the Nutwood Community Christmas Lunch at The Pheasant in Great Chishall.
The residents enjoyed a full Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings and it was lovely to see so many new faces and make new friends. We very much look forward to returning the kind gesture in the New Year.

Festive Therapy Pets

For the last time this year, we were very lucky to be treated with a visit from Pebbles the Therapy Pony and Bonnie the Dog. Pebbles was dressed in her Christmas outfit and took time to see all of the residents either in the main lounge area or in the residents' room.

We all absolutely love these visits and everybody at Melbourn Springs would like to thank Graeme and Lauren for making these visits happen.

We cannot wait to see Pebbles and Bonnie in the New Year.
