Karen Allen

General Manager

Hello, my name is Karen and I am the General Manager here at Melbourn Springs. Welcome to our website!

My journey in the care of frail older people started in 1982 and I feel very fortunate to have had an exceptionally varied career over the last 37 years. This has included managing assisted living facilities, day care centres, residential/nursing and dementia care homes - all of which I have truly adored!

As an experienced home manager, I fully understand how difficult the transition into new surroundings can be. My highly qualified team and myself are committed to fully support you and your family throughout this journey and always.

I am passionate about our residents being safe, making them happy, enabling them to lead fully enriched lives whilst always receiving the highest quality of care.

Our team here at Melbourn Springs are dedicated to guarantee that all of our residents are treated with dignity, respect and attention, thus in turn enabling them to celebrate life in their new Barchester home which I feel exceptionally privileged to be a part of.

Sarah Jewett

Deputy Manager

Hello, my name is Sarah and I am the Deputy Manager here at Melbourn Springs.

My career in the care of elderly people began in 2007 and over the years I have progressed from Care Assistant to Deputy Manager – in particular developing a passion for specialist Dementia care.

Development has always been very important to me to ensure that I am trained to the highest level in order to provide outstanding care and maintain exemplary standards at all times. Receiving my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and a Level 3 Award in Education and Training have been some of my most cherished moments to date.

It has always been a dream of mine to work in a brand new, luxury care home with properly trained staff - to start from the beginning and to help build and shape a dedicated and focused team with a common care vision and shared purpose.

I am incredibly passionate about my job and fully committed to providing the best possible person-centred care, whilst promoting independence and enabling residents to enjoy their lives to the fullest extent possible in a stimulating and engaging environment.

Melbourn Springs is absolutely beautiful, I am proud to be its Deputy Manager and look forward to welcoming you to our home very soon.

Home Services Advisor

Hello, my name is Dan, your Home Services Advisor at Melbourn Springs.

Nursing has always played a huge part in my family life and through these experiences with elderly relatives I can fully empathize with the difficult decisions that we can all face as our loved ones grow older and their needs change. Understandably, this can be an extremely challenging time for all involved as our nearest and dearest become more vulnerable, often requiring extra care and support in their daily lives.

As the Home Services Advisor at Melbourn Springs I am here to support, offer advice and answer any questions that you may have to help make the transition into your new Barchester home less daunting and as easy as possible. 

In addition, through working closely with local groups and organizations, I am able to host additional events in our home that help to enrich and benefit the lives of our residents, their families and the wider community.
