Activities at Melbourn Springs Care Home

Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat will always be welcomed.

First home Church Service

This has been a long time coming since our home blessing last year and lots of Zoom Services since. However, on Thursday 1st July 2021 our staff and residents were delighted to welcome Reverend Mary Price and Lay reader Pat Smith from All Saints', Melbourn and Holy Trinty, Meldreth for our very first church service at Melbourn Springs.

The service reflected on love and how it has presented itself in many different ways over the last year - which definitely struck a chord with residents and staff alike.

Resident Audrey said, “It was so good to come together in fellowship and I am very much looking forward to our next service too. Thank you to Mary and Pat – it really was a very special morning!”

Bring on the Boules!

It certainly is harder than it looks and Doreen and Muriel blew the competition completely out of the water! By the end of the game we were all lining up for some tips from the ‘pros’ - great game ladies!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father’s Day from all of our residents and staff here at Melbourn Springs.

Our thoughts and prayers are also with family and friends who are remembering those special men who are no longer with us.

We really have had a lovely day here at the home complete with lots of treats, visits and a delicious Sunday Roast lunch too!

4 Villages Orchestra V Concert

Our residents at Melbourn Springs loved the V Concert by the 4 Villages Orchestra that much that they wanted to watch it again! The 4VO is an exciting orchestra drawn primarily from musicians living in and around the four villages of Duxford, Hinxton, Ickleton and Whittlesford.

“It really was superb and so clever how everyone was on the screen together” said Vera. “They are all very talented musicians and we had a splendid time!” added Audrey.

More details about the 4 Villages Orchestra can be found here: www.4vo.org.uk and we are all looking forward to being able to see one of your concerts live together soon!

Arts and Crafts in the Garden

When it is that hot - sometimes a little bit of Art, a Jigsaw or even a good book out in the Garden is all that you need! And Popeye even made an appearance too as our resident Joy showed us her fantastic cartoonist skills.
