Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Chinese New Year

A lovely afternoon of Chinese hot nibbles, going from room to room. We had some Chinese festival music and our residents made a wonderful dragons head, hanging lanterns, and paper chains in their arts and crafts classes. We then decorated the whole of the reception area.

Love is in the Air

It’s rare to have resident couples in a home, but we’re lucky enough to have two very special couples: Marion & Len and Ruby and Norman. Both couples were ove whelmed with a Valentine's surprise lunch. The room was decorated with chocolates, cakes, champagne, balloons and flowers laid on by Martine from activities.

Knitting Donation

Residents were delighted with a recent donation of hand-knitted clothing.

International Flower Day

We would like to say thank you to Morrisons in Peterborough for our very generous £50 worth of flowers that you kindly donated to our residents in Memory Lane.

We’ve had some beautiful displays that went out in the social lounges and in the main reception. This is one activity that lots of our residents enjoy. Thinking outside the box, they brought in pebbles and twigs from the gardens to get the look just right. Perfect displays!

Pamper Days

Although we’re all still in lock down we all need some TLC. Whether it be having our legs or arms massaged, having a manicure, pedicure or having a weekly haircut, it really helps everyone feel so much more human.

We would like to say thank you to one of our staff here: Esther, who is one of our carers—you’re a star! In the good old day’s, pre-Covid, we used to have a professional hair dresser that came into our home. They would offer a wash cut and blow dry to all our residents, which the resident would pay for. But since lockdown, we’ve had to stop all that. However, Esther, in her previous job, used to be a qualified hairdresser. So, in her spare time, and when she has a day off, she often comes in to do the resident'  hair free of charge.

Esther, doesn’t charge for this service, as none of the staff can accept any form of payment from any of our residents. But she did come up with a fab idea: would it be possible for those people that have regular visits with her to say thank you in another way? Would their families like to donate some hair dressing equipment; for example, brushes or rollers, or buy activity bits & pieces, such as jigsaws, flowers or cakes; or donate to one of our monthly charities? This would be fabulous!

Christmas Treats

A huge thank you to St Botolphs C of E Primary School on Oundle Road; they did a reverse advent calendar, so instead of the children receiving treats off their teachers, they were asked to donate Christmas treats to Longueville Court.

Every one of our residents received a gift and Christmas card from the children. Many of our residents were moved by the children’s thoughtfulness at the special time of the year.
