Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Festive trip to garden centre

Our residents wanted to do a bit of retail therapy and look round the garden centre.

We ended up with a nice coffee and cream scone to finish the day

Christmas party

A huge thank you to Darryl Block the husband of Karen who is one of carers on Memory Lane. Darryl entertained our residents with a sing song and a boogie.

Hot buffet and alcohol was served to our residents. And as you can see everyone was on their feet clapping, singing and dancing. The atmosphere was brilliant. Even our staff joined in with the karaoke.

Fab afternoon - I think we will all sleep well tonight

Luna Experience

We had a trip to our wonderful Peterborough Cathedral to see the 'Luna Experience'.

We had a walk around the Cathedral, lighting a few candles for loved ones. Then we had a guided tour, finding out what happened when the shuttle actually landed on the moon.

What is abetter way to finish off than with a lovely coffee afterwards at Sunday’s cafe?

Local Watering Hole

We went on a village walk to collect pine cones for our arts and crafts sessions for Halloween. Then we finished up in our local pub the Ramblewood Inn, as it was on route back to the home. It was nice afternoon chatting about daily life with some hot coffees and a cider or two. It was lovely to see one of our residents' Mum enjoying a cider with her daughter.

Halloween Spook-tac-ular

With help from the residents, we decorated the lounge and the reception area to make a spooky atmosphere for our families and friends that came to visit us. A massive thank you to Morrison’s, who kindly donated 35 pumpkins and carving tools for our activity.

As you can see from the pictures, it was so much fun singing & dancing to The Monster Mash. Lots of the staff joined in and we even got the residents families to carve a few pumpkins for those that preferred to stay in their rooms. We combined this with Picasso’s birthday. Frankenstein meets Picasso in our arts and crafts afternoon.

They were Spook-tac-ular!

The Peterborough Flute Choir

A huge thank you to Charlie and her team, who entertained us on our the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Charlie donated their fee to Macmillan’s Cancer Support — a wonderful worthwhile charity.
