Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Longueville Court residents had a lovely time this afternoon at the Flower Festival at Ferry Meadows. Fabulous to see the field of colour which our residents participated in.  It was a truly beautiful display to look at.  All those taking part should be so proud of themselves!!!

Rugby time!!

A special day was enjoyed by one of our residents, Louise. As part of our wishing tree project, Louise asked if she could go to watch her favourite team play rugby!! Two of our ladies, Martine and Liz, made her wish come true this weekend, as they went to see the Northampton Saints play at their home ground and had a spot of lunch too!!!

Spring Fair Success

Would like to say a big thank you to all the residents, relatives, staff and visitors that came to support us on our first major event of this year!

It was really lovely to have a mix of stall holders come into our home and have such a pletherer of creativity and locally produced goods on offer.

Our raffle tickets will remain on sale until Good Friday with all proceeds going to the Residents Fund for those extra special day trips.

We look forward to seeing you all again at our Summer Fete.

Fun at Local Community Centre

We had the greatest of pleasures of joining the lovely social group at The George Alcock Centre this week. As always we were welcomed with open arms and the conversation was flowing. Our group enjoyed a game of "What's in the bag?" there were some very interesting answers and the Longueville residents didn't do too bad in the end.

We ended the group as usual with a good old sing-a-long!

A Jar of Creative Love

We celebrated Mother’s Day in style. As well as many visits from families and friends, the ladies were treated to handmade gifts and invited to share in an afternoon tea celebration. In the weeks prior to Mother’s Day residents, supported by members of the Activities Team, met regularly to create 60 individual glass vases. These were made using recycled jars and a variety of techniques to decorate, based on the skills residents brought to the table, including paint daubing, glass painting and marbling, they were later embellished with glitter and ribbons ready for presentation.

Residents; Ruby and Norman, who were involved in the gift preparation, visited the ladies of Longueville Court on Mothering Sunday, to deliver the vases which were filled with beautiful daffodils. These were welcomed with big smiles, many compliments were paid, with ‘lovely’, ‘thank you’ and ‘beautiful’ frequently among them. Family members visiting the home gave praise and thanked all those involved.

General Manager, Bheki Perelion said: “We’ve all had a really lovely day, this unique crafting activity brought together so many individuals to create personalised vases and put smiles on so many faces. The delicious afternoon tea organised by Activities and prepared by our brilliant Chefs rounded off such a special day.”
