Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Paula Courtney

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog.  I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger.  My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly.  I am delighted to be back working with the team.

I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites!  My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events.  Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University.  As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Care Home Open Day

We were blessed this year for our Open Day as we had fantastic weather - one of the hottest days of the year!  It was very much a family day, where residents, staff and their families enjoyed a wonderful day together. We had a delicious BBQ, cooked by our head chef, some stalls, and were entertained by Nicky Price, who was a finalist in Gary Barlow's television show, 'Let it Shine'.

Thank you to everyone who attended, we had a wonderful day!

Gardening Club

We have a Gardening Club here at Llys. This week residents planted vegetables in our raised beds including beetroot, cabbage, and butternut squash.  They spend a lot of time watering and weeding them.  When they are ready to pick, Andy our Chef will cook them for us. We can't wait to try them!

Pottery

Pottery

Julie, a local potter, came in to the home recently to visit the residents and staff and show them a thing or two about pottery! The residents made many different things including garden ornaments, everyone had a great time!
