Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Paula Courtney

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog.  I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger.  My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly.  I am delighted to be back working with the team.

I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites!  My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events.  Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University.  As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Marvelous Month of Birthdays!

Llys-Y-Tywysog are having a marvelous month of birthday celebrations. For Maureen's birthday she was joined by family and the team presented a cake which everyone enjoyed for afternoon tea. Happy Birthday Maureen.

The team always make sure every birthday is special and this time we arranged a visit from Shelia's Pet Therapy. The rabbits were very happy to have all the attention and cuddles, they are so very sweet and we love their visits.

Very Special Cute Visitors

This weekend residents had some very special and cute visitors; Sarah our Activities Coordinator fosters cats and kittens so she bought in two of her current charges. What a delight these two were and the residents loved their visit, they were very at home at Llys visiting residents in their rooms and played some games in the lounge. This socialisation will also be very good when they find their forever home.

Later there was a Baileys coffee afternoon, what a fantastic day!

Glorious Day to Visit Mumbles

What a glorious day for a glorious trip to Mumbles.  Residents enjoyed beautiful cakes and drinks from Verdi's. The weather was perfect for looking over the bay (in the shade) and chatting with friends.  Residents can't wait for our next visit!
