Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Paula Courtney

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog.  I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger.  My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly.  I am delighted to be back working with the team.

I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites!  My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events.  Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University.  As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Life at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home

Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Llys-Y-Tywysog's employee of the month Joanna. Joanna works as part of our night team of care assistants, she knows each residents' night time routine and is always there for them whatever the hour. Joanna is also always willing to cover days and nights at short notice, a real team player and very much valued member of the team at Llys, thank you Joanna.

Special Moments

It was black cats for halloween month at Llys-Y-Tywysog! It is coincidence that Sarah's latest charges are two gorgous black cats. Sarah fosters kittens and cats until they find their forever home and we are delighted she brings them in to meet the residents. These two were very happy going around the home meeting residents in their rooms and lounges. What lovely photos, some special moments captured.

Pumpkin Painting

If you have visited Llys-Y-Tywysog recently you will have seen the beautiful Autumnal displays around the home. Residents are so enjoying the range of craft activities, yesterday it was pumpkin painting to add to our displays. It was wonderful to see so many residents taking part as well as some visiting families!

If the visit to your loved one coincides with an activity they wish to take part in everyone is always welcome to join in or watch.

Autumnal Decor

As it is now officially Autumn we started decorating the home in an Autumn theme and it really is looking beautiful. Residents created rag wreaths and we placed acorns and leaves in a decorative display. It is nice to change our decor and the residents really enjoy working on new ideas.

Paula and Sarah put together a broad range of activities and events for residents, but the simple things are just as important. This is a lovely photo of Paula and Des out on a walk.
