Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Paula Courtney

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog.  I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger.  My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly.  I am delighted to be back working with the team.

I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites!  My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events.  Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University.  As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.

Paula and Sarah put together a broad range of activities and events for residents, but the simple things are just as important. This is a lovely photo of Paula and Des out on a walk.

Mount Pleasant Church Coffee Morning

Llys-Y-Tywysog residents are now regulars at the local Mount Pleasant Church coffee morning. We all love going down to the church to meet with local residents and volunteers. Residents enjoy a cup of tea, cake and a good chat, it is so important for us to be of the local community where so many of our residents have lived all their lives.

Knit and Natter

Whilst we needed the rain, we don't really like the rain! Llys-Y-Tywysog residents took the opportunity to sit and knit and of course natter!

Mindful Drawing and Colouring

Llys-Y-Tywysog residents enjoyed some minful drawing and colouring. Colouring is relaxing and as with all activities there is lots of chatting and tea and coffe. Arts and crafts are greatly enjoyed and we have started thinking about Christmas themed crafts!

Musical Weekend

Llys-Y-Tywysog residents had an enjoyable weekend with music at the church service and a concert from Leanne Stock. We so appreciate these services by our local Mount Pleasant Church, they mean a lot to the residents. Thank you also to Leanne for some great upbeat singing, it was also lovely that families were able to join us to watch the concert.

Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Sarah the Llys-Y-Tywysog Employee of the Month. Sarah is the home's activity coordinator and puts together a varied and interesting programme of activities and events for the residents. Sarah is hard working, committed and brings great positivity in all she does. The residents and team here at Llys-Y-Tywysog would like to say a big thank you to Sarah and we would like to wish Sarah all the best as she embarks on the next exciting chapter in her life, studying a degree at Swansea University. The good news is Sarah will still be working at Llys-Y-Tywysog as part of the activities team part time while she studies.
