Activities at Llys-Y-Tywysog Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Paula Courtney
Hello I am Paula the Activities Coordinator, I have recently returned to Llys-Y-Tywysog. I worked at the home for over 5 years when my children were younger. My close connection with Llys remained as my father in law was former resident, so I was still visiting regularly. I am delighted to be back working with the team.
I am creative and hope to bring new ideas for activities and events as well as still running firm favourites! My passion is about enhancing the lives of the residents from individual time through to big celebratory events. Sarah will continue to work as part of the activities team, working alongside me part time whilst studying for her degree at Swansea University. As a team we are committed to Barchester's Life Enrichment programme ensuring we work with mind, body and soul.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

The Gwynfa Gwyther Room
Gwynfa was invited back to Gorseinon Institute accompanied by her family and friends, where she spent many many years as a volunteer and as a thank you and gratitude for all her dedication and hard work a room was named after her.
When Gwynfa cut the ribbon said she felt like royalty, it was such a special day.

Dilys’ wish comes true!
Centenarian Dilys made a wish on our Wishing Washing Line and we made it come true.
With friends in tow, Dilys enjoyed a fantastic afternoon visit to GG's Gelato in Penclawdd.
We would like to say a big thank you to Helen the manager, who was kind enough to offer everyone a taster of the different flavours to enhance the experience and help make the afternoon even more wonderful.
Bellissimo Italian Day!
Pizza fun for everyone!! Residents had a pizza making class this morning with Chef Andy, residents rolled their dough, added their toppings and enjoy eating them in our Italian themed dining experience. Lunch was followed by the sweet sounds of the very talented Ellie Rose, our residents were nothing but complimentary about her amazing performance!
The King's Coronation
The start of the bank holiday weekend celebrations, residents enjoyed watching the kings coronation in our cinema room. Monday we had a fun filled day at The Big Coronation Lunch! We started the morning off with entertainment from the fabulous Robbie lee with songs through the decades, a huge afternoon tea party with family and friends and finished the day with Music for Health workshop with Carl, singing dancing and having fun together!
Making Edith's Wish Come True
Edith, 98, wished on our Wishing Washing Line to return back to her home town of Porthcawl and we made her wish come true!
Edith had a wonderful time reminiscing about the 40 years that she had lived there.
Fish and chips followed by ice cream and a walk along the promenade chatting with everyone that we meet along the way .
We managed a little trip to visit Edith’s home, where as luck would have it, Edith’s old neighbours of 20 years were there to meet her .
Edith’s smile does really say it all
At Llys Y Tywysog we make wishes come true.
