Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Professionals Breakfast Meeting

A fun filled morning at Leeming Bar Grange with our first Professionals Breakfast meeting!

Thank you to those who attended including those from Age UK, North Yorkshire Council and Bedale Church. It was a great morning getting to know you all and discussing how we can support one another in the local community. A positive way to start the day!

Also a big thank you to our lovely residents who kindly made some homemade goodie bags for our attendees.

We look forward to our next one on Thursday 19th August. If you would like to come along, please contact us to reserve your space.

Residents take a walk on the wild side

Residents and staff were able to virtually dive into the impressive wildlife of Dartmoor Zoo.

We explored its grounds and learnt about the unique history of the park from the zoo’s educational team. The culmination of the tour was the live tiger training demonstration, which was wonderful to see and enjoyed by all.

Our residents were delighted to see amazing photos and short videos of the animals.

Three Lions on a shirt!

Residents and staff at Leeming Bar Grange care home in Leeming Bar have been cheering on their home sides throughout the Euros.  The home has been decked out with flags and residents have been enjoying all the action over the past four weeks.  Everyone at the home has loved seeing Gareth’s boys progress so far.

Fans of the beautiful game at Leeming Bar Grange were delighted to be able to watch this year’s fixtures after the disappointment of last year’s tournament having to be postponed.  Residents and staff have had a brilliant time getting together to watch the matches and celebrate with a cold beer and footie-inspired bar snacks whipped up by head chef Toni Scott.

Long service award celebrations

Celebrations at Leeming Bar Grange this week as we celebrate Administrator, Anita who has received a prestigious 10 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for ten years.

Anita Grayson, started at Barchester in July 2011 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Michelle Keep, General Manager of Leeming Bar Grange said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating ten years of loyal service with Anita. She has demonstrated her dedication and loyalty to this home and its residents year after year. I speak for all of us here at Leeming Bar Grange when I say that I’m looking forward to many more years of working with Anita!”

Here's to many more years for you, Anita!

Birthday fun for bingo Queen!

Celebrations have been in full swing at Leeming Bar Grange, as one of its residents reaches her 90th Birthday in style.

Mavis, the Bingo Queen was joined by staff and relatives to celebrate her special day. Mavis begun her day at the homes hair salon where she was pampered by stylist Wendy ready for the celebrations. Mavis is well known in the home for her love of bingo so it was only fitting that a game of bingo was on the agenda. Mavis couldn't hold back the happy tears as she was presented with a homemade birthday cake made by our head Chef, Toni and several gifts from loved ones. Residents and staff then enjoyed a karaoke sing along to some of Mavis' favourite songs.

It's coming home..

We were thrilled to watch the semi-final match of the UEFA European Championship on Wednesday, between England and Denmark last night, even if it was a little bit tense!

We decorated our home with flags and banners for the special occasion. Our residents enjoyed delicious treats and refreshments as they supported England’s national team.

We all got involved in themed games, quizzes and conversations and raised a glass of fizz to congratulate England for their great win. We look forward to seeing them in the Final on Sunday and we hope it's coming home!
