Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Life at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Residents find out about our mechanical friends!

We enjoyed a wonderful virtual introduction to the world of robots with V&A Dundee Curator, Kirsty Hassard.

Kirsty talked us through the history of robots and their early beginnings, the presentation traced the fascination of all things wired and wonderful and considered what the future might hold for our relationship with a multitude of mechanical machines.

It was absolutely thrilling to learn what robots can do now and what they might be able to do in the future.

Residents tour the magnificent gardens at Blenheim Palace

Residents and staff had a lovely time exploring the amazing gardens of Blenheim Palace through a virtual talk, hosted by the Historian - Antonia Keaney.

We enjoyed a virtual look at how the gardens at Blenheim have developed over the past 300 years - from the formality of Henry Wise through to the ‘natural’ landscape created by Capability Brown and beyond.

Everyone was very impressed by the many jewels hidden within the 150 acres of beautiful gardens.

Special Birthday celebrations for a special lady!

Leeming Bar Grange have been privileged enough to be part of the wonderful Gladys' 90th birthday celebrations!

Gladys and her loved ones made the most of the spectacular sunshine by having afternoon tea in the garden; with not one but two birthday cakes!

Our fondness for Gladys couldn't be contained in a normal sized birthday card so Gladys' friends in the home created a huge card which was filled with everyone's love and well wishes. As you can see Gladys was absolutely thrilled with this and was brought to tears by the kindness of her friends.

Gladys you are a wonderful person who never fails to brighten up our day with your cracking sense of humor and zest for life.

A wonderful day for Ice Cream

Leeming Bar Grange have been making the most of the beautiful summer sunshine with a trip out on the home's mini bus to Brymor Dairy!

Residents reminisced about family days out as we enjoyed the stunning countryside views & passing through quaint villages. But of course the highlight of the trip had to be the famous Brymor Ice Cream!

The trip was even more special for one of our lovely residents; Irene. One of Irene's favourite things to do prior to covid restrictions was go out for ice cream with her son. So Irene was absolutely thrilled to see her son waiting for her at the dairy.

We look forward to our next ice cream trip!

Happy Doughnut Week!

Residents and staff celebrated The Children's Trust National Doughnut Week, and what sweeter way is there to enjoy delicious doughnuts than to be doing so to raise funds for a fantastic cause!

Whilst we tucked into scrumptious doughnuts we enjoyed another fabulous silent disco from DJ Pete! Pete's high tech headphones ensured that everyone was able to be involved; from residents who prefer to join in from their rooms to the team working in offices! The whole home quickly became a dance hall as the power of music filled the home!

A huge thank you to fabulous DJ Pete for helping to make the day a success, we can't wait to see you again!
