Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Cheers to Good Food, Good Wine, and Great Company!

Residents at Leeming Bar Grange recently sank into relaxation as the melodious tones of Streisand played in the background, whilst being served a selection of wine, cheeses & delicious accompaniments.

A firm favourite had to be the Rose Prosecco which was described as "superb" and "wonderful", along with oat cakes topped with plum chutney and goats cheese!

We look forward to our next soiree!

Residents celebrate Last Night of The Proms with English National Ballet

We celebrated Last Night of the Proms virtually with members of English National Ballet’s Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Music Director Gavin Sutherland.

We listened and danced along as members of the orchestra took us on a magical, musical journey. English National Ballet Philharmonic is made up of many of the country’s top musicians, and boasts considerable experience in all forms of music-making. With insights and anecdotes into what it takes to conduct an orchestra for a world-class ballet company, this special concert got our feet tapping, arms waving and hearts singing!

It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all.

Residents enjoy visit from local nursery

Leeming Bar Grange care home, in Leeming Bar have recently welcomed back their little friends from Bedale Nursery.

Each week the children will be visiting Leeming Bar Grange in the gardens for an afternoon of fun, games, singing and storytelling! At their visit this week the children played games, and taught residents their favourite songs and vice versa. Including some old classics such as ‘ba ba black sheep’, and a lesser known classic ‘ba ba rainbow sheep’!

Residents had a wonderful afternoon, but particularly one who used to be a teacher. It was a beautiful moment and she was brought to tears with the memories the children brought back. The resident expressed that "children are the best medicine", and the team cannot agree more. Residents and staff are looking forward to having their weekly visits and making more great fun and memories.

Virtual Tour of the Scottish Design Galleries

We had a lovely time joining Becca Clark and James Wylie – members of V&A Dundee’s exhibitions team – as they took us on a virtual tour of the museum’s incredible Scottish Design Galleries.

We were introduced to the wide range of unique objects at the galleries from architecture and engineering, jewellery and textiles to theatre and their fascinating stories.

And we were able to learn more about the importance of all objects in telling the rich and varied history of Scottish design.

It was a lovely talk, enjoyed by all.

A pawsome afternoon at Leeming Bar Grange

Our extremely good boy Jack the therapy dog came along to see his friends again this afternoon!

Jack visited all our dog loving residents for lots of love and snuggles. Residents absolutely lit up as they each had quality time cuddling, stroking, offering treats, and testing Jack's obedience skills. Jack even sang along with residents to 'how much is that doggie in the window' with his perfectly timed woofs woofs.

An enjoyable afternoon with a visit from our furry friend!
