Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert
Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies. We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Dogs Trust
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.
Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.

Happy Father's Day!
Today we celebrate our wonderful father's & father figures in the home with a delicious traditional lamb roast dinner with all the trimmings, shandies galore, and a Yorkshire themed afternoon tea in the homes garden
Accordionist Alan Chandler played jolly ditties as we enjoyed some ‘reet’ tasty treats! Including a selection of pork pies from the local butchers; from Pork & Mushy Pea, Pork & Piccalilli, and Pork & Marmalade! Followed by sweet treats such as Fat Rascals, Yorkshire Tarts, & a selection of locally sourced sponges
Whilst celebrating our gents in the home we also took time to reminisce fondly of the important men who have been a part of our lives
Cheers to all the fabulous father's, devoted dad's, & marvellous men who make the world a better place.

Summer Shindig!
We marked the Summer solstice with a day of colourful merriment!
Pete Goldup - The Silent Disco DJ joined us for another fun-filled silent disco; playing all the holiday hits of the decades to get residents singing their hearts out & showcasing the fanciest of footwork! Gallone Ices Bedale made the day even sweeter with the most delicious ice creams complete with chocolate flake & syrup..a perfect way to welcome in the Summer!
Thank you to everyone who came along to join in the shenanigans!

Armed Forces Day
To mark Armed Forces Day our mini bus adventures saw us take a trip to Eden Camp Modern History Museum
Originally a prisoner of war camp the museum offers an immersive experience of war time Britain. From experiencing the eerie darkness of a blackout, and exploring a U-Boat, to visiting the Vera Lynn Music Hall for a sing along to We'll Meet Again!
With residents having experienced war time Britain at a young age it would be wise to approach such an experience with caution. However residents were filled with a deep nostalgia of community spirit, and a hardy resilience! Resident Norman who proudly served in the RAF was thrilled to experience the old sights and sounds of the era; and in particular was in awe of the Spitfire on display!
Residents would highly recommend a trip to Eden Camp to anyone who wishes to deepen their empathy for those who have served; past, present, and future.

Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside!
We recently enjoyed our first coastal trip of the year with a jaunt on the homes mini bus to Redcar seafront for traditional fish & chips and ice cream!
Whilst the sun wasn't as bright as forecast we couldn't go all the way to the coast without having a little paddle in the sea! Nothing stops us Yorkshire lot!
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to join in the fun, especially those team members who very kindly volunteered their time on their day off.

Prosecco Picnic
The bubbles & conversation were flowing under the glorious sunshine at our prosecco picnic! Residents enjoyed a selection of tasty treats including cheeses, smoked meats & fresh fruits, all washed down with their choice of bubbles! What a fabulous way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon!
