Activities at Latimer Court Care Home

Here at Latimer Court, we have a varied social programme that includes themed events once a month, painting classes, day trips out, exercise classes and arts & crafts, to name but a few. We strive to tailor our activities to suit everyone's needs, and update our notice boards weekly so that all families and visitors can see what their loved ones have been up to. Our aim is to make sure that those we support can enjoy a happy and fulfilled stay with us. You can take a look at some of our regular activities by clicking here.

Dan Taylor-Edwards

Activities Coordinator & Dementia Champion

I'm Dan and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Latimer Court. I joined the team in 2022. I have worked in care for many years as a carer and activities roles, and absolutely love my role here. I love working with the elderly and have a real passion to enrich every day and make their lives as special as they can be.

I have many ideas for group activities and events as well as for individual interactions, and love seeing these ideas coming to life and the difference it makes to each resident's day!

Eye–hand Coordination Games

Our wonderful activities team set up and spent the afternoon on our Memory Lane community playing several 1:1 and group games with our residents including; dominos, skittles and hoopla. All designed to promote interaction, concentration, hand-eye coordination and of course...fun!

International Beer Day

We had fun loading the drinks trolley with various beers and fruit based drinks for the 'ladies'. The gentleman enjoyed a cold beer in the sun whilst several of the ladies mixed their own cocktails and topped them with a variety of sliced fruit to enhance the tropical taste and experience!

Sensory Boxes

Our activities coordinators today made up several 'sensory boxes'. Some containing sand and shells, different coloured shapes and textures. The group used mini watering cans to wet the sand and make moulds of different shapes and sand castles. The other boxes contain fun items to discover such as play putty, rubber balls that light up and various other textured puzzles and shapes. Our memory lane residents just love exploring these boxes. Such a simple idea gave so much pleasure.

Water Painting & Dream Catchers

Our memory lane residents have been getting creative using 'water painting sheets'. All you need is a paint brush and some water; as you brush over the paper the picture comes to life! We also spent the morning making 'dream catchers' to hang in the residents rooms. Using a paper plate, glitter and various coloured wools the residents enjoyed individualising their catchers.
