Activities at Latimer Court Care Home

Here at Latimer Court, we have a varied social programme that includes themed events once a month, painting classes, day trips out, exercise classes and arts & crafts, to name but a few. We strive to tailor our activities to suit everyone's needs, and update our notice boards weekly so that all families and visitors can see what their loved ones have been up to. Our aim is to make sure that those we support can enjoy a happy and fulfilled stay with us. You can take a look at some of our regular activities by clicking here.

Dan Taylor-Edwards

Activities Coordinator & Dementia Champion

I'm Dan and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Latimer Court. I joined the team in 2022. I have worked in care for many years as a carer and activities roles, and absolutely love my role here. I love working with the elderly and have a real passion to enrich every day and make their lives as special as they can be.

I have many ideas for group activities and events as well as for individual interactions, and love seeing these ideas coming to life and the difference it makes to each resident's day!

Coffee Morning

Many of our residents gathered in the Latimer cafe earlier today to try out the new Tassimo coffee machine. The variety of flavours went down extremely well. Mr Appleby took a moment to teach our Kim a few dance moves... maybe we should organise our very own 'Strictly come Dancing'?

'BoJo' Our Scarecrow Hero

So our scarecrow entry is finished and has been delivered to @TheLawnsOfficial for display throughout the weekend. Good luck Boris...‘BoJo’ our Latimer Ladies think you’re a real Hero!  We've thoroughly enjoyed creating you.

Big thanks to Joy at The Lawns for bringing our care home communities together  #Scarecrowcompetition  #BarchesterTogether

Cherry Blossom Tree

Today was a very special day for all the staff at Latimer Court. Ivor Whittaker and his daughter joined us in the garden to see the planting of Yvonnes' Cherry Tree.
We are so thankful for this beautiful memory of Yvonne, and will be reminded of her as each and every blossom falls.

Scarecrow Competition - Latimer's Hero

The Lawns nursing home have invited all care homes within the area to take part in their first ever scarecrow festival which will take place 21st to 23rd August, 2020. We at Latimer Court have been working with a resident group to design, and begin to build our entry. The theme is ‘heroes’ and the resident group were all in agreement on who they wanted to display as their hero. Can you tell who it will be yet?

Afternoon tea

The residents at Latimer Court enjoyed a beautiful afternoon tea today courtesy of Amber. She built and personalised boxes which were filled with brownies, flapjacks, millionaire shortbread and cupcakes! Each box was then hand delivered to every resident. We had puréed scones with jam and cream and soft cupcakes with frosting for our soft diet residents, so no one missed out on the special treat.

Angels with a capitol 'A'

The title of this posting is an extract from the letter of thanks which accompanied a 'gift of kindness' presented today, to all at Latimer Court.

Ivor, the husband of Yvonne who became part of the Latimer family 3 years ago. Ivor wanted to personally thank the whole team from the love, care and support they had shown Yvonne, Ivor and the family throughout the years. Yvonne was such a wonderful lady who always had a smile on her face that would brightened the room and everyone’s day. She loved all things sweet, particularly chocolate. Ivor packed a basket full of all her favourite things so the team could take a moment to sit back and remember Yvonne whilst enjoying a delicious goodie. Ivor also gifted to Latimer a beautiful 'Cherry Tree' in loving memory of Yvonne.

We look forward to the annual blossoming, and will think back to Yvonne's beautiful smile within every petal fall. She was a much loved lady, who will remain in our hearts forever.
