Activities at Latimer Court Care Home

Here at Latimer Court, we have a varied social programme that includes themed events once a month, painting classes, day trips out, exercise classes and arts & crafts, to name but a few. We strive to tailor our activities to suit everyone's needs, and update our notice boards weekly so that all families and visitors can see what their loved ones have been up to. Our aim is to make sure that those we support can enjoy a happy and fulfilled stay with us. You can take a look at some of our regular activities by clicking here.

Dan Taylor-Edwards

Activities Coordinator & Dementia Champion

I'm Dan and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Latimer Court. I joined the team in 2022. I have worked in care for many years as a carer and activities roles, and absolutely love my role here. I love working with the elderly and have a real passion to enrich every day and make their lives as special as they can be.

I have many ideas for group activities and events as well as for individual interactions, and love seeing these ideas coming to life and the difference it makes to each resident's day!

The Queen's Birthday Celebrations

Our residents and staff enjoyed a day of reminiscing, looking back through the Queen's life in pictures and stories. Many residents remembered the actual dates and news releases. Chatting away about what they were doing around that time whilst enjoying cream tea's before sitting back and watching the day's celebrations from Windsor Castle.

VE Day Celebrations

The residents of Latimer Court took time to remember on VE Day. Following the 2 minute silence at 11 o'clock, the home was filled with wartime music and singing from Vera Lynn to Glen Miller. Activities included creating decorative poppies, reciting poems and a 1940's quiz before settling down to partake in a delicious afternoon cream tea and raising a glass to all those brave souls lost during the war and courageous survivors. We will never forget the sacrifices you made. All staff at Latimer Court wish to thank our wonderful residents for sharing their memories of such an important day to us all.

Latimer Court 'Winners'

We were so pleased to receive a surprise delivery from 'Be The Change Foods'; a 100% vegan lounge in the heart of Worcester. Latimer Court Care Home and staff were nominated by one of our residents families ‘The Westcott’s’ for "being fantastic and doing a fabulous job"… and we won!
'Thank you' so much for the nomination, the cake was delicious. Just perfect as we enter into National Vegetarian Week; 11-17 May 2020.

Twiddle Mitts and Teddy Bears

The team at Latimer Court were delighted to receive a gift of knitted Twiddle Mitts and Teddy Bears. These items can help soothe, stimulate and fascinate the holder as they discover different items such as buttons and silks within the knitted tubes. We send a warm 'thank you’ to local community resident; Wendy Phelps for her creativity, time and good will in providing these items, our residents and particularly those within Memory Lane will no doubt enjoy discovering their hidden gems.

Happy Birthday 'Super Star'!

We have a ‘super star’ in our midst; Patricia turned 81 on the 28th April and we wanted to give her a day to remember. Pat has only been with us for a short time yet she’s forged a real connection with a lot of our staff; her smile lights up the room. Having gone through so many medical obstacles recently, her successful fight to overcome Covid-19, a stroke, pneumonia and a hip operation, she remains strong, happy and cheerful.

Although she can’t go home yet, we managed to link her via facetime to many family and friends, her day was full of laughter. The carers read each and every card to her and our chef created a beautiful cake that Pat shared with her fellow residents and staff. Pat’s room and the corridors were full of staff singing ‘happy birthday’ to wish her the very best.

It has been an absolute pleasure having Pat as part of our family and an honour for us to share this special day with such a courageous lady.

Flowers from Tesco

Tesco Warndon popped into deliver buckets of flowers for the Latimer staff. The much welcomed bouquets were shared between staff and residents putting a smile on everyone face and a beautiful fragrance throughout the home. Thank you Tesco.
