Hollyfields Care Home in Kidderminster

Hollyfields Care Home and Ivy House in Kidderminster are located in the scenic Habberley Valley, just a few minutes from the town center and all the amenities it has to offer.

We support residents who are on different stages of their dementia journey in a way that is engaging and which enables individuals to be active through an extensive range of daily activities. We have two individual, but co-supportive settings in our residential community, Ivy House, and our main nursing home, Hollyfields.

Hollyfields

Hollyfields is our 36-bedded nursing home for those living with more advanced and challenging dementia. Our approach to resident support is based on person-centered care plans, identifying needs, likes and dislikes and offering personalised, but wide ranging activities focused on meaningful occupation.

Care plans are carefully prepared through discussions with each individual and their loved ones, as well as relevant medical professionals. The result is tailored care, bespoke to the person we are supporting.

Enhancing the quality of life for each resident is our number one priority and complements our reputation for excellent nursing care. We are also one of the few homes to be able to offer a magic table activity session for residents – a valuable addition to cognitive support in dementia care.

Ivy House

Ivy House is our luxury 7-bedded house that supports those at an earlier stage in their developing dementia. This unit fully supports residents, but offers an opportunity for individuals to remain socially active. They have their own lounge, dining and kitchen facilities and are encouraged to take part in activities in the home and their community. Residents are all carefully assessed for their suitability for Ivy House and to ensure a real family living environment during their stay.

Types of care

Hollyfields provides care for persons with mental health issues and complex dementia. This includes learning disabilities, Down's syndrome, Korsakoff syndrome and a range of other conditions. In the Valley Suite, we operate a 7 bedded 'buddy' service for those residents whose complexities require them to have a varying level of one-to-one observations from 6-24 hours a day in a bespoke specialist unit. We understand that each resident is unique and our service is operated to deliver the best support we can for all who require it. We have many external and internal audits to ensure we deliver the highest standard of care possible. Our last CQC inspection rated us as 'Good' - overall achieving a 'Good' rating in each of the five audited areas.

Our Team

The dedicated and experienced team are passionate about providing quality care to each individual living at the home.

Adam Moore

General Manager

Hi, my name is Adam, and I am the General Manager here at Hollyfields. I hope you find what you're looking for on our website!

I started my career in the care sector in 2001 as a housekeeper in an elderly rehabilitation hospital. I found a passion for caring for individuals and was given an opportunity to work with adults with learning disabilities. It was this start that inspired me to deliver person-centred care and dedicate my career to supporting those and their loved ones in living a happy and fulfilled life.

My 7 years working with learning disabilities lead me to train as a nurse. I qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in May 2010 and spent 4 years working with adults with enduring mental health & personality disorders in a medium secure setting. I gained a wealth of knowledge from this sector and developed my passion for coaching and leading a team.

I moved in to the elderly care sector in 2014; first starting as a Unit Manager and working my way up to General Manager. I have helped shape and improve services that I have managed which has been inspired by residents, loved ones and staff members.

I joined Barchester & Hollyfields on 31st July 2017 and have been pleased with the support and dedication from the team.

Michael Butler

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Michael Butler and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hollyfields. I joined the team back in July 2007 and have held this position since then. During my time at the home, I have become NAPA-qualified, been a finalist for Activities Coordinator of the Year twice in the Barchester Care Awards and reached the finals at the Great British Care Awards (West Midlands) in 2014 and 2017. In 2015, I won the award for Barchester's Charitable Foundation Champion and since then, I have become a trustee for the Foundation.

My role as Activities Coordinator involves providing those we support with a meaningful and bespoke activities programme and to help improve their well-being, promoting independence on a daily basis. My role also involves engaging residents with their local community, either through community groups attending the home or through residents enjoying trips out.

Our activities programmes are based on residents' interests and include occupational therapy, sensory stimulation, cognitive activities, arts and crafts, food-based activities and outdoor community events.
