Activities at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Cruising Down the Trent

Cruising Down the Trent

Some residents enjoyed a boat trip down the River Trent. The weather was beautiful and they got to see lots of the local landmarks.

Congratulations to Charlotte Widdison, who has been named as a divisional winner for the 'Activities Coordinator of the Year' category in the 2017 Barchester Care Awards.

1940s Day

1940s Day

We had a fun time celebrating 1940s day! Our staff dressed up and we enjoyed music from a vintage 1940s singer and loved spending time together discussing items from our memorabilia table. As always, we had a fun day filled with music, dancing and, of course, tea and cakes.

Newark Dementia Carers Group

Newark Dementia Carers Group

Here's Brenda, who lives at Lancaster Grange on our Memory Lane Community, enjoying a morning of activities and fun with our new friends at the Newark Dementia Carers Group. It was our first visit, but we all had so much fun that we will be seeing our friends again soon.

Resident Car Wash

Resident Car Wash

Resident, Graham, from our Memory Lane community, loves washing cars, and enjoyed washing the General Manager's mini. He said that he had his eye on the yellow rag top, but always had convertible BMWs at home. Graham was also supervising the Maintenance Manager, Nick Allen, and SCA, Pete Cavan, to make sure they assisted efficiently in the process.

Afterwards, Graham had a sit down in the open top car and said, "Thank you so much for that; it made me feel normal again."

The General Manager donated £5 to the residents' fund for their hard work and fantastic job.

Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day

To celebrate Red Nose Day this year, family and friends baked cakes and we all played the Comic Relief game, ‘Guess Kirstie’s favourite Maltesers Cake’. Our winners were Bob & Morag Skelton, who kindly donated back their winnings.

We were visited by some residents from Tennyson Wharf - one of our sister homes - who came to join in with the fun. We had tea & cakes whilst enjoying a sing along with Bernie, our Activities Assistant, and some of our volunteers.

We had a lovely afternoon and raised £28 altogether.
