Activities at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Nutrition and Hydration week

This week we are recognising Day 2 of Nutrition & Hydration week. From March 12 - March 18

Nutrition and Hydration Week aims to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provision of nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and globally. This morning our residents took a trip into our local community for a spot of essential shopping at our their request visiting Waitrose & Partner on our visit, and to our delight, we were presented with lots of fresh fruits, strawberries, raspberries, and bananas from their community engagement liaison team, to support our nutrition & hydration week.

This afternoon our residents enjoyed sensory fruit tasting, and all took part in food themed games, evoking memories of eating with the family. We finished the afternoon off with a very nutritious fruit smoothie that met the dietary needs of all our residents in our community of Memory Lane. With the help of our hospitality team, we adapted it to have a higher calorific value where necessary.

Visiting Claypole Primary School

This afternoon, our residents of Lancaster Grange had the pleasure of visiting Claypole Church of England Primary School

We were warmly welcomed with hot drinks and home-baked shortbread, which were proudly served by the children.

What a fabulous afternoon we had. The children who are practicing for a school choir competition that will take place later this week sang to us. This afternoon's performance by the children was fantastic and inspiring, leaving our residents and activities team feeling very proud to be a part of. Thank you again for all that helped this wonderful intergenerational afternoon happen.

After our trip, two of our residents expressed how good it was to be back in school after many years of teaching.

Valentine's Day

Our residents of Lancaster Grange have thoroughly enjoyed a very special Valentine’s Day.

We happily welcomed Jeremy into our home for a Valentine's live performance in our communal café. What a fantastic morning of love songs, which our residents reminisced and san along to.

It was wonderful to see our loved ones joining us and to see how traditional red roses and cards brought so much joy to our residents around our home.

After a Valentine's Day inspired lunch, we enjoyed home-baked chocolate-dipped shortbread hearts and tasty Viennese biscuits.

A fabulous time for our residents here at Lancaster Grange.

Pancake Day

Our residents of Lancaster Grange celebrated Pancake Day yesterday. We started the morning with a fun pancake tasting session, Patrick happily mixed up the pancakes, we didn’t need to find a recipe for this !

We have learned lots of information provided by our valuable resource Oomph Wellness all about Pancake Day

We were able to discuss the meaning behind and reminiscence about Pancake day with our families.

Our residents reminisced about mixing and making pancakes, and we found that the most traditional and popular filling was lemon & sugar.

Our tasting session in the morning was certainly enjoyable, and then we thoroughly enjoyed pancakes as a dessert at lunch, provided by our Peri Chef Tom.

We did a quiz after lunch and had a great start to the morning here at Lancaster Grange Care home.
