Activities at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Movement to Music six week course provide by The Salvation Army

We would like to say a huge thank you to Sarah Boswell from Newark Salvation Army Mead Way Balderton.

Sarah is our local Community Mission Facilitator, and delivered our final week yesterday of ‘Momentum to Music’

Momentum builds when you have a vision, It is sometimes easier to look back than to look forward.

But life is about thanking God for what is past and the memories it holds and looking forward to what's next.

Momentum takes you places. It allows us to develop.

Momentum happens when we purposefully set our vision and focus on good things and set our own goals, however small and humble we perceive them to be. Giving up is not an option.

We maintain momentum even if times are difficult and we maintain the things that keep us growing. This is still moving forward, day by day. Maintaining that momentum gives momentum to others.

Our residents felt this reading really helped give them focus on this gentle armchair exercise course.

What a fabulous and joyful 6 weeks of spiritual music with meaningful readings and prayers.

Thank you from us all here at Lancaster Grange. We look forward to our next sessions in September.

Community Engagement visits to our home

Our residents of Lancaster Grange have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming members of our local community into their home over the last few days. Flying Officer David Butler, from RAF Syerston, joined us and delivered a fantastic presentation on Lancaster Bombers.

We also welcomed Sarah, from Newark Salvation Army Mead Way Balderton

Sarah delivered a wonderful afternoon called, ‘Singing for the Heart’ A Dementia friendly singing group for us all to enjoy.

Sarah, was joined by Julie, Wendy and Lyn all from the Salvation Army.

Our residents had much fun enjoying both these activities, and look forward to their visits in July.

Dementia friendly Monthly Coffee Mornings

This morning our residents of Lancaster Grange hosted their dementia-friendly café/coffee morning on their Memory Lane community.

Our coffee morning provides our family, friends and local community an opportunity to talk and share best practice and experiences.

It also serves to raise awareness of the condition, something we feel at Lancaster Grange is extremely important.

We had such fun with games, jigsaws, sensory items and a good old fashioned sing song.

We would also like to say a huge thank you, to Alison for providing valuable pet therapy to our residents with her adorable cat Bandit earlier this week. A big thank you to friends, families and staff members for joining us this morning in playing games and singing along.

We thoroughly enjoyed tea and cake provided.

Virtual walking tour of Mayfair

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.
