Activities at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Mr Nicks Ice Cream Van

Who doesn’t love an ice cream! Karen, the Head Chef at Kingfisher Lodge, organised the surprise visit for all the residents.

Mr Nicks familiar tune of his ice cream van filled the air as all the residents were getting excited to see him pull up outside the home.

All staff and residents were treated to an ice cream and their favourite toppings. The buzz and excitement this created was wonderful and brought back lovely memories for both residents and staff , and was talked about for days after, we are all looking for a visit again soon.

Nita Celebrates her 90th Birthday

Kingfisher Lodge love celebrating birthdays, and this month it was the 90th birthday of our lovely resident Nita. Nita has lived at Kingfisher Lodge for a number of years and is well loved by all staff and has made lots of friends at the home. This meant there were a lot of people wanting to celebrate her birthday with her. Luckily for Nita we were also able to invite her family into the garden to help make the day more special.

A beautiful cake was made by the chefs at Kingfisher Lodge and the activity and care staff made sure the party was in full swing all afternoon, lots of cake and baileys were served as these are Nita’s favourites. Everyone had a great time and we are all looking forward to the next birthday celebration.

Andy is back!

All the residents at Kingfisher Lodge were over the moon when last week on the weekly activity sheet they saw the name, Andy Tee.

Andy hasn’t been allowed to sing at any care homes for over a year now and Kingfisher lodge were so pleased to welcome him back at the end of June. All the residents enjoyed an afternoon in the garden listening to Andy do his magic.

Every single resident said what a wonderful afternoon they had, and they cant wait for the next visit. Andy will being joining Kingfisher Lodge every month going forward.

In the month of March, we held a raffle for Comic Relief, then all the staff and residents wore funny hats to raise money for brain tumour research.
