Activities at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Long-Awaited Reunions

Kingfisher Lodge has opened its beautiful gardens to host the long-awaited reunions of our residents and their loved ones. Afternoons have been spent in the lovely sunny Saltford under appropriately spaced gazebos.

Emotions have ran high as only to be expected,, but the tears were of joy, and it was lovely to here laughter along with the trains speeding by over the fence. The garden flowers, scents, the birds and the weather has made the visits a joy to be a part of.

All Barchester guidelines have been followed, including disinfecting the garden furniture after each visit.

Anniversary Celebrations

Kingfisher Lodge had a lovely couple who have celebrated another wedding anniversary in the home. This year, they were treated to a lovely meal, drinks with staff and a beautiful cake made and decorated by Head Chef, Karen. After the meal, the looked forward to a socially distanced afternoon with some of their loved ones who came in for a visit.

Community Letters

Residents at Kingfisher Lodge have loved the correspondence from the local community and friends and family of staff.

Letters, pictures, gifts and postcards arrived from local schools; friends children and even strangers have been a great support, comfort and talking point through lockdown and are very much appreciated.

Residents have come together to read these lovely written gifts, and they have brightened up the home.

Carers Week

Kingfisher Lodge celebrated the hard work that all their carers do. The carers were treated to something every day. Carers loved the daily surprises!

When the Queen Came to Visit

Residents at Kingfisher Lodge enjoyed the Queen visiting in the garden. A lovely afternoon was had by all eating cake and drinking tea in the sunshine. There was lots of singing, including 'Happy Birthday' to queen Elizabeth, and our national anthem. There was lots of laughing, as the Queen waved to all the residents and they practiced their royal wave back.

VE Day

Kingfisher Lodge residents enjoyed celebrations with the whole of Chestnut Walk, where they are situated in Saltford. The residents of both the street and the care home joined together, whilst still social distancing on their driveways.

Kingfisher Lodge residents enjoyed music, dancing, singing and socialising, flag waving, cream teas and the beautiful sunshine with staff. Everyone that joined in said it was a wonderful afternoon!
