Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Animals are the best form of Therapy

Barney’s back!

And what a magical boy he is.

Animals seem to reach people in a way that sometimes humans aren't able to reach each other.

The extraordinary Barney and his owner Juliet visited us again yesterday and worked more magic.

Barney, a Bernese Mountain Dog, is 4 years old and a Therapy Dog.

He adores people and as it turned out, people adore him!

A continued thank you to Barney and Juliet

Val enjoying a walk in our Gardens

At Kenwyn we all adore our well established gardens.

There is nothing that we enjoy more than opening our doors on a sunny day in Cornwall.

Our residents love getting out into the fresh air and as you can see on these photos, Val had a lovely time.

Carnon Downs Memory Cafe visit

Supporting our local community is incredibly important to us here at Kenwyn.

Carnon Downs Memory Cafe is a special place to Kenwyn, so special in fact, that a couple of weeks ago we invited our sister home Falmouth Court Care Home - Barchester Healthcare to come along and share in the magic.

Today, both of our homes gathered a selection of residents and went along to enjoy an afternoon of Cornish Poetry, delivered by the incredible Poet, Clive Blake, along with added fun, tea and cake.

Home Services Advisors Adele and Hugh volunteered and also gifted raffle prizes.

We will continue to support and attend this fantastic community effort.

Barney the Therapy Dog visits Kenwyn

Animals seem to reach people in a way that sometimes humans aren't able to reach each other.

Yesterday at Kenwyn Care Home was no exception.

The extraordinary Barney and his owner Juliet visited us and worked their magic.

Barney, a Bernese Mountain Dog, is 4 years old and a Therapy Dog.

He adores people and as it turned out, people adore him! So much so in fact, he is becoming a regular visitor to Kenwyn and will be with us every 2 weeks.

A huge thank you to Barney and Juliet.

Cornwall Seal Group visit Kenwyn

Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust (CSGRT) is an evidence based conservation charity supporting a large network of active citizen scientists who routinely survey seals on their local patch in order to learn more about grey seals.

Each seal has a unique fur pattern that enables it to be photo identified throughout its life. Learn the pattern and you can recognise the seal!

Yesterday was World Ocean Day and the group came to Kenwyn to provide information via a chat and a valuable Q & A with our residents.

A huge thank you for providing such an interesting session and for the valuable work you all do.
